since its creation in December 1985, the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) has sought to increase economic unity between India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and later Afganistan.
Unlike the EU or ASEAN, however, trade between the eight SAARC states has remained limited despite the fact that all are located within a close proximity of one another and all are part of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Clashes between South Asian countries end up jeopardizing the creation and effectiveness of regional trade agreements.
SAARC's inability to play a crucial role in integrating South Asia is often credited to the political and military rivalry between India and Pakistan. It is due to these economic, political, and territorial disputes that South Asian nations have not been able to harness the benefits of a unified economy. Over the years, SAARC's role in South Asia has been greatly diminished and is now used as a mere platform for annual talks and meetings between its members.
We should have solve our all issues under the agreement of SAARC. And should improve our economical ties, as now saarc countries loosing billions of dollors due to ineffectiveness of economical ties and trade. We should hav to make SAARC effective like ASEAN and UN.

it can all go really smoothly if India Plays its Major Role.....Rather its been too self centered to do so!

India's agenda is not in accordance with the SAARC principles that is why it has not played a useful or constructive role in the organization.
