Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi has arrived in Dhaka to discuss the Rohingya situation with the government.

She reached the capital on Monday night and will meet the prime minister, the Bangladesh foreign ministry said.

She will hold bilateral talks with her counterpart AH Mahmood Ali during her daylong visit on Tuesday.

Both foreign ministers will fly to Ukhia “to have some meetings” there. Ukhia hosts camps where Myanmar nationals fleeing the violence in Rakhine state have taken shelter.

According to the foreign ministry statement, the Indonesian minister will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban before leaving Dhaka at around 8pm.

Earlier, on Monday, she attended the ASEAN retreat in Yangon where she discussed the Rohingya situation.

The Indonesian newspaper Jakarta Post reports that her visits to Myanmar and Bangladesh were aimed at finding a solution to the decades-long Rohingya crisis.

She will also discuss the Rohingya situation in Bangladesh, the Indonesian newspaper reported.

. . .
Myammar should adopt the Malaysian Model - give citizenship to the minorities but enshrine the majority in the country's Constitution with all the rights and privileges and hold a tight grip on the social, economic and political aspects of the country. By doing so Malaysians are able to coexist peacefully!

.
.
it is clear that indonesias position is same as Bangladesh. They should do what they can within the ASEAN framework and support BD in the UN.

. .
Bangladesh has changed its policy about Rohingya . From keeping eyes closed to pushing the ball over to the ASEAN court. Intelligent move.

BD needs to take charge and control events and agenda.... We can not expect ASEAN and organisation that is slightly more more effective than SARC to solve anything for us.

BD needs to bring pressure on Burma through every international channel.... IN that respect we have been successful in getting Malaysia and Indonesia to intervene. We need to ask the Thai to get involved. If all else fails BD needs to use force and be prepared for it.

Burma is throughly uncivilised, force is the only thing that may ultimately be needed to get them to stop their fascist behaviour.

Where is our dear @madokafc ? Seems like Indonesia took more active steps in this situation other than Malaysia. And Indonesian people went extra mile by planning to blow up Myanmar embassy with Suu ki on board., thanks god that didnt happen. But but our dear Madokafc said Indonesia follows non intervention policy in ASEAN countries.

ho It was in our interest the matter doesnt spilled on our border (human trafficking, boats people) stranded on our shores. And the visit is clearly to make sure that to know the situation on the field, and sure we got non interventionist policy in work.

Bangladesh and Thailand had to bear the most of the Burmese instability price as we both are weaker than China and India. They know who to mess with and who not to.

I dont think Indoneshia and Malaysia could do much as long as Burmese could keep their master in Beijing happy. Bangladesh should involve UN general and security council and bring proper allegation of crime against humanity and make some of the generals and officials accountable, so that next time when they act barbarically they know that they may face the singing some day. Bangladesh also should keep Turkey, Iran, Pakistan on board if in case we need to intervene militarily.
We have very strong bonding with Malaysia which should be nurtured and flourished in the years to come.

FM comes to discuss the issues as well as convincing Myanmar govt that violence is not the way out. we are in no way going to come and dictate them. ultimately, only Myanmar's decision that matters and all we can do is to convince them. that said, i don't think any non-ASEAN countries ever understand our foreign policy. we try this way during thai-cambodia dispute over preah vihear temple and we succeeded.

Some people like to see a glass half full and some see a glass half empty.

then what do you suggest? attack Myanmar? do it then.

Then she could just leave from mm after all the convincing. What made her to come to Bangladesh?

I dont think anybody suggesting attacking mm. But we could always use China medicine and for that we need joint effort.

Because there is some struggler who came into our shore, their number is thousands. So there is problems with those illegal tresspaser meanwhile Philippine, Cambodia and Vietnam doesnt have the same problem. Help the poor Rohingya? are we obliged to help them? not in materiel and money but we will do whatever is best to resolve the conflict between them and Myanmar government by mediation
