According to General Andika Perkasa, Armed Force General, 30.000-50.000 personnel will be new addition, excluded from current Armed Force personnel of around 400.000-450.000 troops.

Air Force, Army, and Navy base will be present. This is also due to capital is near the sea, but only 300 personnel will be inside the new capital, where the rest will be outside the capital region.

So I think Marine and Kopaska unit will be put there, Kopaska is one of Marine Special Forces (Kopaska/Denjaka/Taifib)

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - It is confirmed that SoftBank Group will not invest in the project for the new capital city of Indonesia, East Kalimantan. SoftBank Grouo's resignation was announced on Friday (11/3/2022), quoted by Reuters.

They did not explain in detail the decision to cancel investment in the capital city of the archipelago, but SoftBank ensured that it would remain committed to and support the development of start-up companies in Indonesia.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in an interview with Bloomberg this week confirmed the news of SoftBank's withdrawal from the capital city mega project.

"There are no more stories about Masayoshi [SoftBank's CEO], he's leaving," said Luhut, who did not specify SoftBank's withdrawal from the new capital project.

In 2020, SoftBank Corp was rumored to be investing US$ 100 billion or equivalent to Rp. 1,400 trillion in the new capital city. This news was conveyed by Coordinating Minister Luhut Pandjaitan himself.

"Because he [Masayoshi] kept pressing me, he wanted to invest almost US$ 100 billion. I think it's too good to be true," he said.

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son even had a special meeting with Jokowi on January 10, 2022. During the meeting, he expressed his interest in working on the new capital city.

"Thank you very much for inviting us. [...] I think the capital city of Jakarta has an important history, and several other things," Masayoshi said in front of Jokowi.

"So, the new project [capital relocation] that you have prepared, I think can be an opportunity that we can discuss further, what is the idea," he explained.

The head of state also indirectly explained the reason for the government to move the location of the new capital city, which is located in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.

"Jakarta's land area is now 66,000 hectares and if we compare it with the location of the new capital city, the land area reaches 256,000 hectares," said Jokowi.

Jokowi will do camp and stay one night in new capital city, along with 4 Governors of Kalimantan. 34 Governor around Indonesia archipelago are also present and do symbolic action by giving some of the soil and water of their own province, so that the Capital city soil and water comes from all Indonesian provinces.

Jokowi once again said the reason of the building of new capital city is not to abandon Jakarta, but to make Indonesia not Java centrist country, the long term target is to spread development into all Indonesian provinces evenly.

The Indonesian government is scrambling to find new investors for its multi-billion dollar new capital city project following the exit of Japan’s Softbank Group.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan said on Thursday that the government was turning to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to fill the funding gap.

The government was hoping to win over the UAE and Saudi Arabia for funds that were initially earmarked for Softbank’s Vision Fund, but that SoftBank had slashed following troubles over some of the group’s portfolio companies.
