What do you mean by first industrial revolution and why do we need to achieve it in order to be a part of fourth industrial revolution? Do you want Bangladesh making steam locomotive in order to achieve the first industrial revolution? Please elaborate!

But, the question remains can Bd even make steam engines? Is the country capable of developing that kind of production organization when private entrepreneurship has been curbed? 1IR is basic because it and 2IR produce most of the basic things that a progressive human society consumes.

Do not please think 1IR is below our esteem. You see, Indonesia is producing 2IR train cars and it is not losing its prestige!! Bangladesh has more than 160 million people. How do you want them employed unless production facilities are not built by private companies?

Can BAL-propagated 4IR theory feed such a large BD population? We are just blindly following the Indian 4IR example. But, people should understand India is not a developed country after working on 4IR for the last four decades and it also has 1IR, 2IR and 3IR industries as well.

Not a expert or anything but do we even need to import these? Engine is probably a more complicated matter but our workers in local railway workshop have already proved themselves in repairing coach and engine. If govt provide proper support i think we can make these coach locally and save a lot of money like this news link below. This looks like a short-sighted, stupid decision by incompetent-corrupted railway ministry. Corruption could also be a reason behind this decision.

If i remember correctly they did try to get these cars and engines from India but India failed to supply them in time. So they went to another manufacturer.

We don't have to import everything, but we also can't make everything in our country as no country in this world is self sufficient in every areas. Better we should focus specially on ICT and also later maybe on military industries because we have possibilities in such sectors. Also we can improve our country made motorcycles too! We are already self sufficient in pharmaceutical sector.

Koreans have certainly put the Japanese on their toes that is for sure.

They are getting damned close if not exceeded already. Hyundai and Kia top-grade luxury vehicles are rated higher in quality by JD Powers against Lexus nowadays while being many thousands of dollars cheaper. Lexus - if you guys don't know, was the top-rated luxury vehicle (better than German marques) prior to this.

It is for Korean competition that Japanese car companies have started to re-design their car designs and putting in extra electronics. In vehicle automation (android auto and apple carplay integration, engine electronics) the Koreans are way ahead of Japanese brands (at least in US Market).

If the Indian bid is affordable and meets the requirement, we will get it like we have got several contracts.

Thinking, brains and long term actual commitment is not your forte (can check any science output indices, investment structuring and patent creation which are hallmarks of actual industrial capacity expansion....not to mention the average socioeconomic performance of expats which is marker of the actual human resources at top of country)...so its better just to do short term corruption laundering of numbers and endless "export TVs!" BS media to buy some status quo fake crap instead.

Then your own internal equity drops from 70 billion to 30 billion in just a year. Much stronk wealth to leverage to invest.
