I think Indonesian leaders will likely be low profile as has been seen for many decades. Basically following the route of Soeharto leadership style with the focus on the economy, the region (ASEAN and Far East region), and Muslim world. When Indonesia greater leadership is needed like what happened during Indonesia G20 Presidency, then Indonesian leader should do what he/she must do.
In the past Indonesia also played big role during Bandung Conference and uniting Asian and African countries.

Pay attention to Indonesia. It will help determine the future of Asia.

It’s hard to think of another country as big and important as Indonesia that is so completely ignored by the American public.
With a population of 274 million, it is the fourth-largest country in the world, the third-most populous democracy, and the most populous Muslim-majority country. (It has seven times as many Muslims as Saudi Arabia.) It is the world’s largest producer of nickel and could become the second-largest producer of cobalt — two of the minerals needed for making electric vehicle batteries. It dominates one of the world’s most strategically important waterways — the Straits of Malacca, linking the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Most of China’s energy supplies pass through the Straits. Little wonder that Indonesia has become a fulcrum of U.S.-China competition.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi will hold a meeting with China's new Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Jakarta. He is also scheduled to meet a number of state officials.
Indonesia became Qin's first destination country after being appointed as China's Foreign Minister. Qin replaced the position previously occupied by Wang Yi.
"This visit is Foreign Minister Qin Gang's first visit to Asia since his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC (China) late last year," said a press statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday (21/2).

"While in Jakarta, the PRC's Foreign Minister will also pay a courtesy visit to President Joko Widodo and meet with a number of other high-ranking officials, including with Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan," they continued.
Qin will be in Jakarta on February 21-23, 2023. The main agenda of the visit was to attend the 4th Meeting of the Joint Commission Session of the Republic of Indonesia-PRC.
"The meeting will focus on joint efforts to strengthen the Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including in the areas of trade and investment, infrastructure, maritime, health, connectivity, and community exchange," said the MFA.
"The implementation of the SKB coincides with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Indonesia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. At the bilateral meeting between President Joko Widodo and President Xi Jinping held on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali last year," they said.
