Indonesia and China Signed Aerospace Cooperation Agreement for 2015-2020 Period

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the People's Republic of China have signed a Cooperation Agreement and Utilization of Space Exploration for Peaceful Purposes on October 2, 2013 in Jakarta. Concrete steps of the agreement, namely the formulation of the outline of cooperation in the field of aerospace for the period 2015-2020. The formula has been signed by the Head Space agency, Prof. Dr Thomas Jamaladin, and Administrator Chinese Space Administration (CNSA), Mr. Xu dazhe, on March 26, 2015 in Beijing, China. The signing took place in the presence of President Joko Widodo and President Xi Jinping.

The outline of this cooperation consists of a satellite launch cooperation; utilization of remote sensing; development and operation of a communications satellite; satellite navigation applications; TT & C; rocket development; design and development of space technology facilities; development of sub-systems, instruments, components, materials and satellite; joint observation of space weather; aeronautics technology; and education and training.

The outline of this cooperation is also established that the Space agency and CNSA will coordinate the holder institution for various agencies that will be involved in execution of aerospace cooperation in each country.

With the signing, the two sides agreed to step up to the stage of implementation of the cooperation agreement. This requires further negotiations by the various agencies that will carry out the cooperation in order to specify the terms and conditions required. This is to comply with the legislation in force in both countries.
