Eagle

Garud (pronounced as ga as in gum, roo, da as in dumb) is the right name for Eagle in Sanskrit. However, the eagle is considered the "king" of birds and therefore accorded the mythical name . Hope this clears the doubts.

The pronunciation of Ga-Ru-Da as Gaa Roo Daah is a bastardisation of anglic spelling system.

Both. Today it means eagle but have its origin in Ramayana.

It's a mythological bird who is the carrier(Vahana) of Lord Vishnu, one of the three trinities of Sanatan Dharma.Garuda is also known as the "Slayer of Snakes" in Hindu mythology:-)
So secularism is not counted on when naming things Hindu specific?

How come a Pakistani can't understand Hindi..?

We call it Uqaab here. Garuda word is alien to us

Secularism doesn't prohibit us from naming things after mythical creatures. We also have names like shamsher for the jaguars, and INS Kunjali for the Indian navy's training center. The latter is a muslim name in South India.

USA is a secular country, and that doesn't prevent them from naming their missiles as 'hellfire', although hell is a religious fairytale. Secularism does not mean lack of religion. Don't speak words you don't know.

No. Because terrorists are not secular. Arabized people should not be concerned on indian name.

Hey it's nice to see 27's flying, maybe it's one of the dare's

But the gain of testing IAF's latest fighters against such modern opponents like the Rafale is clearly higher.
