Vistara and IndiGo are pretty decent service provider. IndiGo has international ambitions but doesn’t have any wide body jets. Once they get those, they would need to prove their service quality at a different level.

Air India had poor poor reputation under the government. Tatas have their hands full to turn them around and bring them up to decent levels of service.

SpiceJet and GoFirst have bad reputation.

So Air India expressed a plan (or placed the order...not sure) to buy 300 planes and a week later Indigo responded with a bigger order than its competitor by ordering 500 jets !!
