Indigenous Nirbhay missile to be test-fired again: DRDO

"All landings are essentially controlled crashes." This is the first thing my flight instructor taught me....he was retired RCAF old guy, wont ever forget his wit. :)

As for Nirbhay, if at first you don't succeed, try try again :D It will still have to "crash" during a success, these are not mutually exclusive terms hehe :P

Well said Mr Bender!! :D

3/4 failure is un acceptable.

If Nirbhay guidance is faulty from the first test and is present through out to 4th test . How come one test was declared successful ? Did Nirbhay flew at normal height all along its flight path or did it went into Terrain mode in the successful test flight ?

why is that Many Missiles failed Russian Bulva Slbm ,Trident, even tomahawks PSLV GSLV are all missile integration program in its Initial stages

India is always believe in hard way that goes through R&D And Dedicated Work.Like chinese we might been reverse engineered KH-55 or KLubs with Russian Assistance But that's Not true Capability. Even if we failed hundred times the End product will always What we want it to be .And i will assure you once we are Mastered Cruise missile in its initial development stages We will Make it success like US and Russians

WE might See Nirbhay development in blocks some Might be even above 2000-3000 KM range

Who says that is not the true capability ? You? who are you to make that jingoistic statement ? Some scientist or a standard committee ?

Isnt what India hard way of R&D and dedicated work is making JV and taking help of Russia,Israel, France & America?

Isnt this a hypocrisy that you are faking and accuse others of being cheaters and having inferior development cycle and low quality program with jingoistic claims.

What is your basis of claims that India end product is always what you guys want but the reverse engineering products will not have what the User wanted ?

Russian and & American missiles failed because they were building things from the scratch. Just like your products have a near 100 percent success when you take help from others but when you build own your own. You face large failures.

Look who is talking..Even you need ToT for scooter engine..Let's not talk about so called Al Khalid or those called JF & stolen missile tecchs

Just as you took help in barak, Brahmos, SU-30 MKI and countless other things. So does it also mean you stole tech and now trying to pass all these things as Indian products now ?

There is a limit for trolling and burning, you hid your jf thunder last year and here you are boasting about your war toys.

No wonder Pakistanis always claim victories in defeats.

We hid our JF-17... Wait what ? What is this story enlighten us !

Practice makes perfect, do not be afraid to make mistakes, pick yourself up and get going again. Wish DRDO good luck!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN PRACTICE MAKES IT PERFECT, WHY DO iNDIANS ALWAYS SAY SUCH SILLY THINGS.

THIS IS FIRST IN THE WAY OF THIS TECHNOLOGY IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD, INDIA TAKES THE CAKE.

1965 war. Indians attack Lahore a surprise attack to Pak. Army as it was an international border and fight was about Kashmir in Kashmir, but with three divisions of army personnel and 300 tanks, an Army attacking in such situation must penetrate minimum 30 miles into enemy territory your Army could not go more than 2 miles.unless it is a useless Army.

Than attack sialkot with 4 divisions of personnel and 500 tanks, with such force a reasonable army should go 40 miles into territory, but Indian Army only could hardly go 3 to 4 miles, so who won, you figure it out.

In east Pakistan had you not trained terrorist like MUkti bahinis you would have failed, but why should Pakistan Army fight to kill Muslims, they stopped and wait for another day, there will be many days ahead to test if you can stand and fight, but in Kashmir you attack and kill innocent civilians and than run away. what a shame.

Why is not India buying just like Pakistan did from North Korea ? What is the point of failing time and again ?

BENGALURU: The glitches in indigenous subsonic cruise missile 'Nirbhay' have been identified and the missile is likely to be test-fired again in May or June after incorporating changes suggested by a committee that probed the earlier test failures, the DRDO said on Wednesday.

The missile, with a range of 750-1,000 km, has been successfully test-fired only once in the past, out of the total four tests.

"Only one of the four test firings of the missile were successful. It does not mean the missile got ditched on its own, but it changed its course," Defence Research and Development Organisation's chief S. Christopher said at a press conference at the ongoing 'Aero India 2017' here.

"One of the tests was successful, while three were unsuccessful... we had to abort the mission as it went beyond the safe zone," Christopher said.

He said the suggestions of a committee that investigated the defect in the missile system have since been incorporated.

"In May or June, we will have another test flight," he said.

Nirbhay was test-fired the last time in December 2016, but the attempt was aborted midway as the missile changed course. Due to fear that the missile could hit land, it was destroyed within minutes of take-off.

The first test flight, conducted on March 12, 2013, failed as the missile fell after only 20 minutes of flight.

The second test on October 17, 2014, was successful as the missile met all desired parameters.

During the third test on October 16, 2015, the missile nose-dived into the Bay of Bengal after covering only 128 km.

The cruise missile is expected to supplement the India-Russian joint venture, the supersonic cruise missile BrahMos, that can carry warheads up to 290 km.

The two-stage indigenous missile is six metres long, with a diameter of 0.52 metres, wing span of 2.7 metres and launch weight of about 1,500 kg.

...Who knows 'indigenous nirbhay' might end up killing it's own people this time.. guidance system they say.

..Who knows 'indigenous nirbhay' might end up killing it's own people this time.. guidance system they say.

No such thing will happen

It will become sucessfull causing you more heartburn and jealousy

Why is not India buying just like Pakistan did from North Korea ? What is the point of failing time and again ?

We believe in self reliance ; where ever possible

I hope you believe your own drivel.. I'm seriously hoping 'indigenous nirbhay', doesn't end up like 'indigenous tejas', 'indigenous Arjun tanks' and like 'indigenous dhruv'.. Sincerely
Hope those Russian brahmos work out for you peeps, So you
'flexible' Indians can keep
your self-fellatio escapades going.

Tejas mk1 deployed.
Tejas mk1a nearing final proto phase. Orders ready.
Tejas naval mk1. Which was always a TD, objectives completed. Navy said they wont induct this. And for you it was lalalala.
Tejas naval mk2. Design in progress.
Tejas mk1a with AESA radar going into test shortly.
Tejas mk1a with Kaveri Engine. Maiden flight 2019. Since Safran knows one or two things about engine..

This lead to development of a aeronautical industrial complex in India.

And it lead to AMCA development. Subsystems are developed(past tense).

I would like you to have a look at this slide and try to guess what this picture means.

Arjun. As a system, It was never a failure.Even third party audits loved the end product. Primary users want to import stuff. A huge Indian MIC loss.
Arjun mk1. Limited deployment.
Arjun mk2. Limited deployment.

Primary reason was weight. Have a look at the weight for MBT tanks world around. Indian Army is and will always be skewed to Russian equipment and doctrines.

Dhruv mk1, mk2, mk3. Active deployment with all the primary users. Not to mention Ecudar(I am sure you think them not buying simulators, service parts and crash due to human errors is India's failure.), Maldives, Nepal, Mauiritius used or using it. Not to mention many private users in India, Turkey, Peru.
Dhruv mk4 which is Rudra. Active deployment.

All the experience in Dhruv led to..

LCH. Development complete. Going into LSP.
LUH. Prototypes in flight. Please see the Aero 2017 thread.
Medium Lift Heli. Development started..

As an Indian, I hope Nirbhay follows this exact path. We are not ashamed of it. Patience is a virtue after all.

India is a poor country. We are simple minded people. Reactive rather than pro active. Our industry was crawling till 2000s. It is walking now. Lots to be done before running. Please, until your country can boast 1/100th of what India has, keep the chest thumping to yourself.

There is a reason why India compares herself to China rather than Pakistan. Understand that.

I do understand taking items out of context just to mock your fellow brothers is absolute joy for some Pakistanis. I am fortunate to know many that admire what a third world country have achieved.

But, have some decorum. Use proper language and try not to look like a fool.
