India's trade-GDP ratio higher than US, China's

Lol.. I think the OP saw the heading India ahead of China, Got excited and just went for it, Without actually understanding the content..

Isn't that funny mate!
Well on trade, they wouldn't wanna write anything on uncompetitiveness of exports i.e. low-tech, natural reserves, neither would they mention heavy imports dependence of energy and industrial products. Least of all, it's difficult to face the severe trade deficit being one of the highest in the world, that's definitely not a good sign for any debtor nation (unless you can print US$). But still wanna "get ahead of China"? OK, stick to trade-to-GDP ratio, this can be a good "comfort".

they have a population of a continent, and its GDP, as they claimed, is just around $2 trillion,

but when you look at the quality and healthiness of their primitive economy, probably only $1 trillion can to be considered solid, and the rest are useless in terms of adding to a nation's economical strength, as most of them are the consumption of necessities, like grains and veges. In terms of classic mid-income consumption, they consume even less than a city like HK
