India’s smartphone exports crossed $2 Billion in 2 months !!!

Good start, once mobile phone assembly is established parts manufacturing ecosystem can come in phase 2.

I think we are going to be the electronics manufacturing powerhouse by the end of this decade at the speed we are going.

Exporting phones are okay, we should put more emphasis on exporting home appliances too, using Indian brand name.

I remember about 10 years ago , walked into a big department store type building in Shanghai- several levels of tightly packed shops selling all sorts of things. Somewhat like old Palika Bazar in Delhi.

I asked to buy a Samsung - the guy shows me three different Samsungs of same model each about $35 !!! My local colleague explained these are Samsung for all practical purposes - may even be same parts as in original Samsungs except the Samsung company just isn’t involved . Some party official with enough clout starts an assembly plant and just ‘uses’ Samsung name, parts , sources, designs , even packaging !
