a) If the radar was any good (big IF there), would India allow its sale to Bangladesh. It is more than likely an old tech radar that India feels comfortable in Bangladesh having. The design and tech will no doubt get leaked to Pakistan and China and they probably have far better radar than this.

b) When did India become the radar research and development powerhouse when 2/3rd of their inhabitants don't even use a toilet. I know MODI declared India open defecation free recently, but we all know what a rabid bunch of lies that is. Solve that problem first before boasting of lunar missions (meaning failures).

On the topic- Out of all the deals, this one I find quite baffling and difficult to comprehend. Going by the information in this article here, we are basically enabling the Indians to monitor not just Chinese naval movement, but also our own. Even though I don't think we are ever going to fight a war with India, regardless of who is in power. But I think it violates our rights as a sovereign nation.

This article emphasizes on India using the system to monitor Chinese ships. The baffling part is that, why would you allow this when China is your largest investor and your military hardware supplier? Why would you want to jeopardize that relation? Is it some sort of tactical diplomatic maneuver with regards to Rohigya issue?

I found the following from another source. I don't know how accurate this article is-

"A Bangladeshi official told BenarNews that the country has no coastal surveillance system. If installed, the coastal surveillance radar, which is capable of detecting boats smaller than 20 meters (65.6 feet) in all weather conditions, would be the first of its kind in the nation’s territorial waters. The instrument has a range of 50 km (31 miles)."

If the above information is accurate, I think that is why this was agreed upon, perhaps it was deemed as not potent as the article in this thread portrays it to be? Besides, when it comes to Chinese subs, this system should not be effective in detecting.

Regardless of the reason, I am highly suspicious of this system being installed in Bangladesh.
