India's Planning Commission catches flak over posh toilets

Yeti - man come on dude.... whichever way you look at it and even with all the extra costs for fire control system etc its a lot of $$ mate.

It does seem steep but we don't know what work was carried out in regards to the plumbing and sewerage systems, ok it was $70k but I would be more worried about the millions of $$ worth of Food grain in India left rotting as we lack basic storage and logistics compared to this one off episode.

The cost was not for just the toilets but a whole fire control system and plumbing etc which if that is taken into account one could understand why it did cost that amount.

old plumbing and sewerage systems had deteriorated, and needed almost complete replacement”.

True..but some sensationalist journalists/ coffee table socialists wanted us to believe that the whole sky has fallen. The plumbing systems may be dating back to the 1920s and surely would need complete replacement.

The building material cost is at a whole time high, so is the labour cost.

That's the thing we do not even know what type of fire control system was used it could be a advance system which can cost many thousands of $$

$70,000 on two toilets

India is a supa pawa nation and can afford to pay that much for toilets. Soon PDF indians will
boast for having the most expensive toilets in the world even if 40% of their population don't
have toilets. Keep is up india.

A simple concreting of my family house courtyard set us back Rs 25,000. So I can imagine how much high this cost will go.
