'India's missile tech a decade behind that of China': expert

Beijing, Feb 14 (PTI) Despite India's advances in missile technology, the country is still a decade behind China, a top Chinese defence analyst has claimed and asserted that Beijing does not view New Delhi as its "strategic rival."

Shrugging off concerns that newer versions of India's Agni missiles could strike the northernmost tips of China, the state-run Global Times, quoting a top analyst said India may take five more years to achieve this capability.

The analyst also dismissed the claims that India is far ahead of China in developing interceptor technology, the paper said this week, days after India tested the Agni- III, which has a 3,500 km range.

Chinese Rear Admiral Zhang Zhaozhong, a professor at the prestigious Chinese National Defence University, said India is still 10 to 15 years behind China in terms of missile technology.

Another asninine propoganda.We are ahead in abm technology and that is what Dr. Satish Chander said.WE are about 5 yrs behind PRC in icbm technology that also includes induction.We are another 8 years behind china in terms of SLBM including induction and building of nuke submarines.This crap is classic chinese disinformation rather than being specific. We are definitely behind the Chinese although I doubt it will take us a decade to develop missiles that can hit eastern Chinese cities with ease, maybe 5 years or so.

Well well well, what do we have here? Judging by the recent news I heard about missile tests, I think you Indians are still a bit lesser in terms of missile tech as compared to Beijing in terms of long range ballistic missiles. However, China's claims of super-advancement cannot be trusted as 100% true in terms of interceptor anti-ballistic missile testing because they haven't released the news of testing such a system yet.

I feel that while certain missile technology Beijing is reasonably ahead of India, Indians are also ahead in certain other aspects of missile tech such as ABM test which has been documented as being released sometime back whereas Chinese haven't released such a news yet as they usually do.

After all, there are a lot of areas within missile development capabilities in which both countries might be better than the other in some way. Let's see where this geo-political race to supremacy of continent reaches.

It has already started to become a small version of Cold War like what was happening between Soviet Union and United States. Interesting to see..

Chinese commies and their admirals!!! Dr. Saraswat never said that India's ballistic missiles are ahead of China but India's BMD is way ahead of Chinese. With launch of Agni-V India will again lead in ballistic missile as well. Agni-V has MIRV and anti-BMD capabilities as well as it will be robust and accurate like Agni-III.

actually we have one of the highest average IQ's in the world far higher than some other nation's average

Agni-V is laughable compared to what china fields, its comparable to something china field in the 60's and 70's with slightly better accuracy. anyone with a half a brain knows agni-V will not give india the lead over china in anything.
