India's Missile scientists rejoice as India enters MTCR

With India becoming a member of the coveted Missile Technology Control Regime on Tuesday, scientists at three defence laboratories in Hyderabad — Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Research Centre Imarat and Advanced Systems Laboratory — had much to rejoice.
The scientists working in these laboratories and those who worked here earlier played a major role in developing India’s abilities in missile technology.

Scientific advisor to defence minister G. Satheesh Reddy, said, "Becoming a member of the MTCR is a diplomatic win. India earned the status of becoming a MTCR member because over the years missile laboratories in Hyderabad proved that they can develop missile technologies and systems indigenously, while India proved that it is restrained in its usage of these technologies, can safeguard them and has a mature approach towards them.”

Dr Reddy said, “Hyderabad’s labs are directly associated with MTCR. With India becoming a member one can expect acceleration of technological collaborations, technology transfers, interactions and other research works increasing at the missile labs."

An MTCR member gets many benefits like access to technologies, military components, materials and systems like UAV Predator. Dr Reddy said that other areas of research will benefit from India joining the MTCR.

An example is the cryogenic engine which can boost ISRO's space programme but was not made available to India because there were fears that India might use it for its missile programme.

Just wondering . In launch systems , doesn't this mean ULVs, and heavier GSLV MK3 versions will come sooner ?

In military field ,UAVs from.USA and Israel , Cruise Missiles from Russia , and probably Arrow 3 from Israel...

Yeah....we can get semi cryogenic engine tech from Russia...to speed up our gslv and ulv program...

Provided someone is interested in sharing.

At least there is no legal bar now for MTCR countries in sharing missile & aerospace technologies with India.

Countries would surely be interested in selling the products if not ToT.

The downsides are

1) India cannot sell/share its tech with non MTCR members

2) The is a chance that the India could get complacent and invest money in buying products rather than developing
