Recent versions of the Dhruv entering production use the more powerful Shakti engine developed jointly by HAL and Turbomeca.The first test flight of the Dhruv with the new engine and the weaponised version took place on 16 August 2007.

Now that i look
No news on it has been Released on it since Aero India 07.

I would imagine that the armed forces have opted for the LCH instead

HAL has already bagged a firm order to deliver 65 LCH to the IAF and 114 to the Army, company sources said.

Still The weaponised version seem to be only a slight modification of the Original I would not be surprised if Regular versions of the Dhurv are just upgraded to the weaponised platforms, based on need

My initial thought was Dhruv and LCH or of same platform and Sarang fleet is to promote LCH. May be this is to promote Dhruv.

And I didnt know Dhruv has a Weaponised version.

This clears lots of my doubts.

I also heard that LCH been funded by Navy more than the IAF. Is it more to do with Naval version?

I would also love it if it is used for internal security like the Police patrol in huge cities and for NSG and RAF teams. Ultimate will be the Police force using LCH. Or is it a big ask. Basically pondering on what kind of roles will LCH assume. Dhruv is more of a different class, which I understood off late.

Thanks dude, I think the deal with IAF is still in papers as there is no real production line yet setup for LCH. I believe its still in test phase. I would like to see more of its progress. I think LCH has more promising role than the ALH - Dhruv. That gives the answer to the real difference of Dhruv Vs LCH.

Let me do a little homework on this further and see if I can bring in some useful info. I think now I have some base to work on this research.

well it is the derivative of the Dhurv

The LCH is a derivative of the HAL Dhruv, which has already been inducted into the Indian armed forces. Using a successful and proven helicopter as the base platform is expected to conserve the project costs for the LCH, which is currently pegged at INR 3.76 Billion.

The LCH will have a narrow fuselage, with two crew stations. Though the LCH is derived from the ‘Dhruv’ and will carry the same weapons package now being qualified on board the armed ‘Dhruv’ (that have been ordered by the Army for its projected Combat Aviation Brigade), the IAF has specified a top speed 250kph higher. The two pilots in the LCH sit one behind the other, compared to side-by-side in the Dhruv. So all the flight controls, the hydraulics and the fuel system had to be redesigned for the sleeker, heavily armoured LCH. The LCH’s many stealth features also necessitated redesigning the fuselage.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited(HAL) announced its plans to build a Light Combat Helicopter in 2006. Funds for the design and development of the Light Combat Helicopter to meet the requirements of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force were sanctioned in October, 2006.

Hey by using abasing the design on a Proven platform. We will be inducting the LCH in 6 years. It took us 20 to Induct the HAL Dhurv.

I think the LCH is a good example of how DRDO and HAL will be taking care of their new projects and Provide defense equipment on a reasonable time frame. Given they don't have to jump years ahead in terms of technology they have to make things.
