Nice! Is this the same as the Saryu class OPV or is it a different design?

Seems an upgraded version of Saryu Class .It has 105 meters length same as that of Saryu .But article says it is next generation.So it would have more punch than Saryu.

Nice, hopefully the Viet MOD will order this version and not the 75m version. This OPV sounds big enough to incorporate all the rumored weapons system. If the rumors correct, then this OPV can indeed be turned into a multi-role corvette. Hopefully with Israeli CMS.

Check out the Viet military thread. We're discussing a new Israeli coastal defense system that the Viet navy has just revealed. It can be integrated with naval vessels as a defense network so hopefully these rumoured OPV hybrids can do that job.

Thats actually the idea.

The IN and MoD actually want to transfer the coastal patrol duties exclusively to Coast Guard so that all the Navy's assets are used for War purposes.

Ultimately, with this in mind, money is being given to the Coast Guard, and will make the CG into a more powerful Naval force than the Navy many countries possess.

yes, I hope so as well. equipped with defence systems against subs, arial and surface warship threats, painted with a nice stealth color, this vessel can become a light frigate. though, I think we need more powerful engines to reach more than 30 + knots. we need speed.

Exactly, my point. A rapid overhaul and this can be converted quickly and effectively. Also see the number of sailor on board - 100+ !!! For a patrol vessel!!! We are getting naughty it seems.

Ya but the size is of a frigate... in war scenario if needed these ships can be taken back to the yard and can be weapon integrated in sometimes... tha'ts what i hear

1 76mm cannon, 2 AK630 gatlings, 2 HMGs, and a shipborn helicopter (which could easily carry ASW torpedoes and/or light antiship missile, or just plain ordinary air to surface weaponry i.e. guns and unguided rockets or ATGWs). FOlks underestimate the value of the heli....
