India’s grand plan to create world’s longest river set to go

no no no no
this is disaster
there is a thing called wave energy which is countered by the river flow
ocean will engulf coastal regions plus this pseudo lake will eventually turn into a flooding lake if you realize the total rainfall Himalaya gets (both eastern and Western)
what i think is that we should create inter connected canal-River system in a way that no part of our land is too far from a water body to make it a desert
easy said then done
easier for Pakistan due to the whole length of Indus

dude i have weird imagination

Just like you mentioned about gujrat
Eastern plain of Pakistan is indeed irrigated but Thal and thar-cholistan are left
so is the western Country mostly because its mountainous
but given the Indus which flows across the Pakistani latitude
we can convert it into an Inter linked river system
is it enough elaboration

Yes, yes. Water is a major resource and it deserves to be utilized in effective way. I will appreciate any move of pakistan in this direction. Good luck.

No Your imaginations aren't that weird. I used to fantasize about similar grand plans when I was 8 years old. I'd buy a lot of Indian maps from market and stare at them for hours thinking of how to get those rivers everywhere, or haul alluvial soil from the plains to the areas with red soil and laterite soil to make them fertile, or cutting Himalayan mountains and dumping all that that rock and soil into the seas to make Indian landmass bigger. lol. :D

waste of resources.

Some actions go a long way into changing the world .
Indians are lazy . One needs to hit and force them into action .
Only by forcing Indians against their will , we can hope about a Smart City where people are not spitting gutka and Pan , Throwing wastes at road sides and making cashless transactions .

I hate cashless transactions

.
I knew it...black money from demonetization will go in water...:D

...It is Bajpeyi's dream project which could not start since BJP lost the election....this is a game changer project for India...specially when world is already suffering with lack of drinking water

.
There will be countless hurdles but its something the nation needs.

Way too much sweet water flows into the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal

. .
This project is too grand for India. It's not going to happen.

.
I think some start has to be made. You cant make an announcement of 50B and a time frame of 5 years. Create a detailed project report and start with various phases. After various phases has been created, then start linking rivers of different regions- namely North, East, West and South with an interconnect of Canals and DAms. If the project starts now and gets over in 50 years then I will be happy.

dude i memorized whole of the world map from my elder sisters World Atlas
Partially because i had a farmer background and partially because i wanted to Travel
but actually because i was so impressed by Genghis khan and Alexander i myself wanted to take on the whole world
and then the saddest thing happened

i grew up

dont want to escalation but After Indus water treaty
Pakistan actually did this
Making Pakistan one of the world largest irrigated and interlinked irrigation system
but it still is ineffective for eastern desert and western mountains

. .
I beleive, if we are really going ahead with this project, any China's company which might have experience with building such projects, should be involved.

. . .
All rivers must lead to the ocean, or else you will create inland salt water. It's called evaporation.
