Global leaders with Indian roots
Nice watch
@Levina @Nilgiri @Tom M

A very patronizing video, With silly catchphrases.. These are basically foreign citizens having links to India from earlier generations and given that one in every 7th human in the world could be of Indian origin is it really surprising ?

Is it really something to celebrate ? I'd rather want see a video of an Indian making it big in global politics or industry, Like the story of google CEO or others

.
Naa but worth sharing as many of them give credit to their Indian roots for their successes :)

In post 2 I pasted screen shots of what they said about their Indian roots , and buddy its not easy to get success in politics compare to other fields ;)

How you get the perception that we are celebrating .... Sundar Pichai is motivating a lot of Indians , and he may be American now ..what you suggest we stop mentioning him and his roots as he is American now

But he is Indian born and educated in India to reach the pinnacle of his career, These people are American and British born to Asian parents, India had nothing to do with their success.. The video imo is just silly with silly catchphrases.. Cringeworthy.. GDP

I agree with you it was just for the politicians who were born abroad but the family etics of sec generation remain Indian :) that was my whole point .... they may got formal education in their countries of birth but the values which they have learned were Indian :)

Agree but whats the point of the video ? Also the reasons for their success is mainly due to the opportunities they were given in the countries of their birth not the country which thy're parents left

That's why i say the video is very patronizing

I do not know why those people leave their country and get citizenship of another country and when they get there some remarkable position, the origin country of people feel proud that he is Indian born origin or Pakistani born ... But we do not think a person who has left his country and changed even his total identity then why we proud on him... A person who can leave his country just for spend a prosperous life than what other can expect him for the country... What he can give the country... He is no more our citizen... in fact he should be loyal only to his country of which country that he possess the citizenship...

These people are not even migrants, They're first or second generation Americans and Europeans of Asian origin

The whole point is if good people of origin to convience the natives of the countries of their birth to vote for them then I am sure good Indian also come forward in Indian politics and convenience people to vote for them :) ... We lack good quality politicians in India :)

You are right they are not the citizens of India but still act as the ambassdor of Indian values and highlight them
These expats can bring shame to the countries of their leniage and bring laurels too :)
for ex if some attack happens in Europe and it will take minutes for media to highlight his leniage :) and believe me perception plays a big role in this world

It is MUCH MUCH harder to make it in politics than it is to make it in business or acedemia or professional life.

It is especially hard when you are from a completely different race, religion and culture.

The fact that Indians have done well around the globe shows adaptability and inborn talent. If this gives indegestion to some of our smaller neighbors please just grind the news into smaller pieces, make a soup and drink slowly or just take some milk of magnesia - that should help.

Exactly, they are foreigners. Tagging them as Indian origin and creating a remote connection looks out-rightly stupid.
But these ppl never introspect on why they left the country and why ppl in India itself dont succeed in the first place.

that moment when you say that you are related by great-great-great-great-............grandfather ......... 10 centuries back :blah: ppl know what you are upto.

The usual comment from the usual India Stronk Brigade.. Jealousy ? For what exactly and how exactly are the people mentioned in the OP Indian ?

Why don't you ask them?

More than half my family are people who have been brought up in various parts of the globe - they ALL describe themselves as Indian Americans, Indian Canadians etc - in Germany they see themselves as Indian with German nationality even though their wives are ethnic German.

Every one of these people above have proudly acknowledged their Indian ancestory.

Watch a Mindy Kailing show - she is a huge fan of American pop culture but every chance she gets she introduces Diwali, Indian customs and costumes. Russell Peters? Born and brought up in Canada - wife Hispanic - still considers himself a Canadian of Indian origin. Look at Gujus in east Africa, they still wear Indian clothes, eat dal with sugar in it (yuk!) only marry among themselves - a major complaint of East African blacks by the way.

No major civilization washes out of your blood in one or two generations, . Ask the Chinese who were taken to California 100 years ago to build railroads - they have never seen china - they still describe themselves as CHINESE american. Every Chinese New Year they trot out the old dragon and make moon cakes -four generations after any of their ancestors ever saw a Chinese sea shore.
