Indians most well-prepared for retirement: Survey - Economic Times

A recent survey by global financial services giant, Aegon, says that Indians are the most well-prepared for retirement. The study had 16,000 respondents from 15 countries, including 1,000 Indians. Here are some of the findings of the survey in India.

INDIA SCORES HIGH ON RETIREMENT READINESS

India's high score on the Aegon Retirement Readiness Index is also linked to the strong savings culture in the society. Many are optimistic about future prosperity.

HOW WILL THINGS FARE OVER THE NEXT 12 MONTHS?

Expectations for both the economy and one's own financial situation for the next 12 months are far more positive than negative.

I don't believe the survey.

Have people ever see poor people live in the slums in India?

I don't think they ready for retirement, it seems they are very struggling right now....

I think retirement is for people who are employed and not for the ppl that you are talking about. They are living in slums only because they don't know how to earn a lively hood.

Total population of China+US+UK+China+Japan = 3.093 billion. Total number of respondents of the survey: 16,000. Population to survey ratio = 3.093 billion/16000= 193,296.

I rest my case.

This is not the one to be proud of, Most of us(Indians) fail to live the present, but the rest does.

its called population sample

hypothesis testing > population size > population sample > Z-test/F-test > answer

And in this case, the sample size is insufficient to represent the population to draw an accurate conclusion.

Well, typically we assume this is about the entire nation, because different nation has rather different class compositions.

nope, you actually would take the middle class, because they are prone to post retirement issues, upper middle and above would probably have money for next generation

I am referring to the low income class. They are people too and their numbers are way bigger than middle and upper class combined. In industrialized nations, a significant portion of low income individual are basic workers with limited amount of income. They earn enough to get by when they are working, but don't have enough left over once they leave the work force.

sir lower income class do not contribute significantly to pension funds, hence they might not have been taken
Then again this is our assumption, we do not know the data or sample
