Indian TV Channels Banned in Pakistan

.
The time I spend in my living room has dipped drastically because of these serials. However, while Pakistan can ban them - those of us in India - have no choice but to bear it. But let's be frank - most women are not too fond of the men being glued to various news channels either.

. .
why are Indian Channels popular in Pakistan in the first place? does Pakistan not have good quality TV programs?

Right now we have but the problem is when indian Channels started there programm at that time we have only one Tv. channel.. But currently pakistani channels are also being watched by masses... Soon they will replace indian channels..

Indian TV Channels Banned in Pakistan

Pakistan Electronic Media and Regularity Authority (PEMRA) now have closed and banned all indian TV channels in Pakistan officially. Message on these Channels looks like this when an official of HaroBaro.com tunned the indian channels on TV was :
” As per Order of Supereme Court of Pakistan on 25th August 2010 to Pemra all Indian TV Channels are banned.”

<GIVE PROPER LINK AND NOT TO OTHER FORUMS>

Now the Pakistani people are going to get bored.

---Still we are inviting their people and providing them high work and money here in India, like their children and singer in Indian show,we should also stop providing them employment in Bollywood, lets see the amount of pride in Atif Aslam,Rahat fateh ali khan etc, will they stop working in Bollywood?----

why are Indian Channels popular in Pakistan in the first place? does Pakistan not have good quality TV programs?

Why is Mr. Bean popular in the US and why are friends so popular in the UK? When Zee TV came to Pakistan in the 90's we only have STN, PTV. I still remember growing up to re-runs of classics such as:
Rent a Ghost
Mr Belvedere
Alf to name a few.

Then came satellite TV in early 90's and we could watch STAR and ZEE along with other wonderful American sat channel. Zee and STAR filled a gap in the local serial consumer's appetite.

It is funny, because in India people watch Pakistani omnibuses and in Pakistan they watch Indian.

.

Outrage in Pakistan as court blacks out Indian channels - Pakistan - World - The Times of India

ISLAMABAD: In move that blocks the information highway across Pakistan and comes as a rude shock to the people, Pakistan's supreme court on Friday directed the electronic media regulatory authority to stop all cable operators from airing TV channels without landing rights in Pakistan. The stations off air as a result are predominantly Indian news, entertainment and sports channels, as also a clutch of other foreign and local entertainment, sports and religious networks.

The question of landing rights arose after Pakistan's Geo and ARY news channels lodged a petition in the apex court because local cable operators were forced to switch off their transmission for broadcasting news of a shoe hurled at President Asif Ali Zardari during his visit to the UK earlier this month.

The channels no longer on view are Times Now, BBC, CNN, Sony, Euro News, Star Plus, CCTV 9, IQRA, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera (English) apart from a host of others. As a result of the ban, sports lovers were unable to watch the first day of the Test match between Pakistan and England at Lords on Star Sports. The Supreme Court chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary observed that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) must act against all private TV channels running transmissions without paying broadcasting license fee.

The court also issued notice to PEMRA chairman Mushtaq Malik for presenting false statements in the court about the illegal closure of private TV channels. Later, PEMRA chairman Mushtaq, affirming that their decision was taken at the behest of the Supreme Court, said, "Cable operators have been directed to stop broadcasting all channels that do not have landing rights in Pakistan. Many callers are furious and are not ready to listen to our explanation," said Muhammad Sadiq of Pakistan Cable Operator's Association.

Abdul Jabbar, PEMRA's executive member, said they are not targeting Indian channels but banning all unregistered channels. He also said, "There's outrage against blackout of Indian channels because they are very popular here."

Good! drama based on family splits did what an army could not...

We will take our time to get used to it... but in the long run, I think our society won't be improving if we watch people backstabbing each other on T.V.

I know [muslim] indians who tell us that these dramas don't reflect indian lifestyle... correct me if I'm wrong

Indians don't live for 250 years ,don't resurrect after multiple deaths and don't go for a plastic surgery every now and then!!!!

We need the Taliban moral police to straighten these infidels who are clamoring for Hindoo entertainment:D
