Indian surgical strikes: PAF strategy prevented India

Look, a lot of people in India keeps saying things about Pakistan too. Say Shiv sehna, or Bal Thakray etc. It don't mattar. They have a mouth and they want to talk. Let them talk. We can't put a person behind bars just because we don't like what he says. It is against the basic freedom of the individual. Freedom of speech to be precise.

You are right...there is freedom of speech however there is a difference between Politicians and a terrorist...There is a reason that this guy have been arrested so many times by Pakistan itself.....However he always go scot free...Now either he is innocent and the whole world is against him or he has got the blessing of your establishment....

Since the world (acknowledged by many prominent Pakistanis including your president) strongly believes that Pakistan did have used terrorist as strategic assets in the past......Now couple this fact with another fear that India have...which is : Pakistan is classifying terrorists and is reluctant to act against Anti-India people.....On top of that person who we allege to have mastermind Mumbai attack openly calls for Jihad against you makes matter worse......

Look, I take it that we both are at the same page with regards to terrorism. I am saying exactly the same thing, if someone joined Let at the time when it wasn't banned thinking it is a charitable organisation then yes we can't call him a terrorist.
Agreed....

yeah man this idea of surgical strikes is too far fetched. Seriously it annoys us Pakistani's. Same can be said about some of the splinter groups that are in Pakistan must annoy you.
Agreed....If any one say hey are going to bombard my country i would be pissed to...We all know what people of Pakistan feel about Drone attacks so yeah i agree with you....

But we are dealing with these issues but you cannot dictate to us or go ballistic about it. Because we cannot go out against every one at once. There are more pressing priorities at the moment, mainly at our western border.

That's why all GOI is saying ensure people behind Mumbai attacks are booked....Trust me this Zaeed Hamid is a big irritator..

Do you think it is our national policy to provoke you? maybe in the 90's or 80's! But things have changed since. Tell me in all honesty, who do you think will gain the most if India and Pakistan go to war? I mean Pakistan doesn't want war with India and India also is reluctant. We both understand the consequences if it were to happen. So who is it that is brewing all this war hype? Who will benefit the most if it happens? Not Pakistan, Not India, .... I leave that to your imagination.
Why do you think India is not going to war with Pakistan??? The restraint is because war will be devastating....However public pressure is one thing that cannot be ignored....Anyways one of the biggest dilemna that GOI finds itself is if Pakistan is still involved in using terror tactics or has no control on daemon....

We should stand together as friends and discuss every issue we have, from water to terrorism. The more we cooperate with each other the better for both of us. But if say, and its a big IF again, India was using Afghanistan as a proxy war with Pakistan then you would expect some retaliation in some form. It would be better if we understand each other more and help and assist on all issues. Only then this region will thrive at its best.

Now who is retaliating to whom...U and I have different thoughts on these...However the need of the hour at this moment is to create atmosphere for peace talks..Honestly this is not difficult to achieve.....

- GOP should share all the proofs about Indian involvement that it has immediately with Indian authorities....I mean there were lot of talks in GOP establishment about India's reluctance to share proofs related to Mumbai attacks with them....Why to repeat the same thing that you preach others not to do???
- GOI should address their concerns immediately...If she has anything to do with Baloch or else clear the air related to it....
- GOP should immediately take action against the master mind of Mumbai and should address GOI concerns about terror camps and their support

Do this and you will see peace forever in South Asia...

IMO sending MKI's out there for strikes on terror camps might be too risky...I am not challenging their potency but MKI's are far more expensive to loose for attacking a terror camp which is going to gain us practically nothing at ground level apart from sending the message across that "India's patience is not unlimited"....Secondly IAF would be bound to retaliate if any MKI got intercepted by PAF and there goes the blame of increasing the theater of war on India....I believe if they choose to go for surgical strikes it would be done by our so called Killer Drones..may be a cruise missile...but they would avoid to use fighter planes for this purpose.....

Yes, not using MKIs might be a better option. No wonder there has been feverish activity going on over the Brahmos block-II. But Pakistan may send a few Baburs as well. I hope that our missile defenses can intercept them. But thinking this way means that we are forever closing the surgical strike option.

I feel that if we do send some missiles then we need uncle Sam to ensure that Pakistan does not respond beyond a certain level.

There is nothing to gain. India already has enough troubles within its borders and so does Pakistan. Our war of words only benefits these terrorists. We should cooperate on all issues including terrorism. There is a lot to gain if we stand together and perhaps everything to lose if we fight. Then why go down that road?

All countries have internal problems. If that be the reason to avoid war then Pakistan and India would never have gone to war. Our war of words supports the hardliners within and outside the establishment. If Pakistan had been capable of carrying out offensive operations against India, then the Baluchistan issue would be enough for Pakistan to threaten India.

India accuses Pakistan of sponsoring terrorist activities while Pakistan talks of Baluchistan. Meeting a common ground is very difficult. This process will take time. Meanwhile India will talk of taking retaliatory steps and Pakistan will talk of aggressive defense, although at present the world community is a bit more in favour of accepting that Pakistan has home grown terror that is spilling beyond its borders.

However they should not forget that Pakistan may be smaller in size and economy but has the potential to send India back to stone age. And vice versa. If the consequences are this severe then why even think about fighting?!

Fine Pakistan has the capability to nuke India. Who doubted that? But this talk of being nuke-trigger-happy makes one assume that this is what Pakistan likes to talk about vis-a-vis India. China can defeat India in a conventional war and '62 has not been forgotten. Do we keep harping in the same manner as Pakistan does? Even if one argues that India-Pakistan is different from India-China, still this repeated talk of nuking is disconcerting to say the least.

India has no intention of escalating the conflict to that level. That is exactly what cold start and surgical strike options are from the Indian POV. We know that it is impossible to go beyond a certain extent. Even mighty US is having trouble in Afghanistan and Iraq. Our only aim would be to send a signal.

Well the day Let turns foe you guys would realise the folly. Never ever learn from mistakes even after the taliban mess.

I agree the UN has declared JuD as a 'front' for the LeT, and Pakistan is bound to comply with the UN on that count, regardless of the fact that the UN designation involved no trial or opportunity for the affected entities to plead their case. However, compliance with the UN does not involve arresting Hafiz Saeed.
What??? You have no law against preventing an individual from making provocative statements which is as serious as waging a war against another Nation when you are an ally on Global War on terror???
There is a law against Blasphemy, but I am unaware of any law preventing 'provocative speeches' against another nation. Don't forget that there have been thousands of protests blasting the US/Israel/Denmark etc. over the years.
Its all about Proofs...Isnt' it AGNO??? Hope you share the same view when it comes to India's role in Baloch....
It is always about credible evidence, case in point being the 'six army officers supported Headley' masala story that the Indian media ran with a few days ago, that was then debunked. Lets stick with the evidence needed in this case - the attitudes of the GoI and the Indian media in general after the Mumbai attacks really leave no room for Indians to be criticizing Pakistan for leveling accusations without evidence.

So we both agree that JUD and LET are same groups...Right???? Now you are saying that UN resolution does not say to arrest Hafiz Saeed...Though my understanding is a little different as it surely says that movements of such people should be restricted(leave aside them making hate speeches) but i will go with your words....But with all due respect don't you think if at all this man is a terrorists(no doubt from Indian POV)acting agaisnt him will do a world of good to Indo-Pak relations??? India would be left with no option but to comply to your calls for composite dialogue....

AMO there is a difference between hate speeches vs provoking people to wage a war agaisnt another country...Anyways just look at how would a typical indian feel when he/she finds out that a person who we believe is Master mind of Mumbai Attack is not only a free man in Pakistan but still have guts to go in P-O-K and call for Jihad in broad day light???? Surely it is not going to do any good...right??? Even if GOI wants they cannot pursue composite dialogue...Just look at what Indian public/opposition parties did after Sharma-e-Sheikh.....

Well accusation without proof will do no good to anyone...This is something that i believe and stick to it......I honestly follow only NDTV and watched the horror of Mumbai attack for 3 days....Just to give you an example they used a slogan "Enough is Enough" which for some reason was misinterpreted as a message to Pakistan whereas it was against GOI and failure of system...Anyways i am with you on this point...
