TATA STEEL

Tata Steel (BSE: 500470), formerly known as TISCO and Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited, is the world's seventh largest steel company,[5] with an annual crude steel capacity of 31 million tonnes. It is the largest private sector steel company in India in terms of domestic production. Currently ranked 410th on Fortune Global 500, it is based in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.[6][7] It is part of Tata Group of companies. Tata Steel is also India's second-largest and second-most profitable company in private sector with consolidated revenues of 132,110 crore (US$29.33 billion) and net profit of over 12,350 crore (US$2.74 billion) during the year ended March 31, 2008.[8][9] Tata Steel is the 8th most valuable brand according to an annual survey conducted by Brand Finance and The Economic Times in 2010. [10]
Its main plant is located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, with its recent acquisitions, the company has become a multinational with operations in various countries. The Jamshedpur plant contains the DCS supplied by Honeywell.The registered office of Tata Steel is in Mumbai. The company was also recognized as the world's best steel producer by World Steel Dynamics in 2005.[11] The company is listed on Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange of India, and employs about 82,700 people (as of 2007).[4]

Tata Tea Limited, also known as Tata-Tetley, is the world's second largest manufacturer and distributor of tea.[1] Owned by India's Tata Group, the Tata Tea Limited markets tea under the major brands Tata Tea, Tetley, Good Earth Teas and JEMČA. While Tata Tea is the largest tea brand in India, Tetley is the largest tea company in the United Kingdom and Canada and the second largest in the United States by volume[2] and JEMČA is Czech Republic's leading tea company.[3]

ONIDA

Onida BSE: 500279 is one of India's leading electronics brands, established as "MIRC Electronics" in 1981.[3Onida was started by G.L. Mirchandani and Vijay Mansukhani in 1981 in Mumbai.[4] In 1982, Onida started assembling television sets at their factory in Andheri, Mumbai. Since then, Onida has evolved into a multi-product company in the consumer durables and appliances sector. Onida achieved a 100% growth in ACs and microwave ovens and a 40% growth in washing machines last year. ONIDA came out with the famous caption 'Neighbour's envy, Owner's Pride', another popular theme of the ads was a devil complete with horns and tail in the 1980s. The devil was replaced by a married couple- Siddharth and Ritu.[5]

Onida is a popular electronics brand in India. Onida has a network of 33 branch offices, 208 Customer Relation Centers and 41 depots spread across India.[6] As on 31 March 2005, Onida had a market capitalization of 301.46 crore.
Mirc Electronics won an “Award for Excellence in Electronics” in 1999, from the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India.[7]
Onida with its Sales & Marketing office in Dubai reported a 215 per cent export growth in two years, setting the base for an increased robust international presence.
The shipments to the Gulf contribute almost 65 per cent of Onida's export revenue, while shipments to the fast growing East African market (Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia) and the SAARC countries accounted for 16 per cent of export revenues.

Home Theatres and DVD players have been introduced in these markets to strengthen the Onida brand presence. These products have customized models with local language user interfaces in line with its geographies of focus. Onida models are now available with Arabic, Persian and Russian OSD (menu).
In addition to the Gulf countries ONIDA has now a sizeable presence in Russia, Ukraine and neighboring CIS countries. ONIDA has already crossed 100000 mark in CTV exports to Russia in a span of just 2 years and plans to grow in these markets at a much faster pace.
Apart from Television Exports to Russia, Onida also exports DVD Players and High end LCD Televisions.[8]

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto is a major Indian vehicle manufacturer started by a Rajasthani merchant. It is based in Pune, Maharashtra, with plants in Chakan (Pune), Waluj (near Aurangabad) and Pantnagar in Uttaranchal. The oldest plant at Akurdi (Pune) now houses the R&D centre Ahead. Bajaj Auto makes and exports automobiles scooters, motorcycles and the auto rickshaw.

The Forbes Global 2000 list for the year 2005 ranked Bajaj Auto at 1,946,[2] although it does not feature in the 2010 list.

Over the last decade, the company has successfully changed its image from a scooter manufacturer to a two wheeler manufacturer. Its product range encompasses scooterettes, scooters and motorcycles. Its real growth in numbers has come in the last four years after successful introduction of a few models in the motorcycle segment.

The company is headed by Rahul Bajaj who is worth more than US$1.5 billion.[3]

Bajaj Auto came into existence on 29 November 1945 as M/s Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited. It started off by selling imported two- and three-wheelers in India. In 1959, it obtained license from the Government of India to manufacture two- and three-wheelers and it went public in 1960. In 1970, it rolled out its 100,000th vehicle. In 1977, it managed to produce and sell 100,000 vehicles in a single financial year. In 1985, it started producing at Waluj near Aurangabad. In 1986, it managed to produce and sell 500,000 vehicles in a single financial year. In 1995, it rolled out its ten millionth vehicle and produced and sold one million vehicles in a year.

According to the authors of Globality: Competing with Everyone from Everywhere for Everything, Bajaj has grown operations in 50 countries by creating a line of value-for-money bikes targeted to the different preferences of entry-level buyers.[4]

VIDEOCON

Videocon is an industrial conglomerate with interests all over the world and based in India. The group has 17 manufacturing sites in India and plants in China, Poland, Italy and Mexico. It is also the third largest picture tube manufacturer in the world.[2][3] The group emerges as a USD 4 billion global conglomerate continuing to set trends in every sphere of activities.

Videocon through its Wholly Owned Offshore Subsidiary acquired the Color Picture Tube (CPT) businesses from Thomson S.A having manufacturing facilities in Poland, Italy, Mexico and China along with support research and development facilities.

Titan Industries is the world's fifth largest[citation needed] wrist watch manufacturer and India's leading producer of watches under the Titan, Fastrack, Sonata, Nebula, RAGA, Regalia, Octane & Xylys brand names. It is a joint venture between the Tata Group, and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).[2] Its product portfolio includes watches, accessories and jewellery, in both contemporary and traditional designs. It exports watches to about 32 countries around the world with manufacturing facilities in Hosur, Dehradun, Goa and manufactures precious jewellery under the Tanishq brand name, making it India's only national jewellery brand. TVS Motor Company (BSE: 532343, NSE: TVSMOTOR) is the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India[1] and is among the world's top ten.[2] It is the flagship company of the parent TVS Group employing over 40,000 people with an estimated 15 million customers.[3] It manufactures motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and auto rickshaws. It is India's only two-wheeler company to have won the Deming Prize awarded for commitment to quality control, received in 2002.

HCL ENTERPRISES

HCL[Hindustan computer limited] is a global Electronics, Computing and IT company based in Noida, India. The company comprises two publicly listed companies, HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems.
HCL was focused on addressing the IT hardware market in India for the first two decades of its existence with some sporadic activity in the global market.
On termination of the joint venture with HP in 1996, HCL became an enterprise which comprises HCL Technologies (to address the global IT services market) and HCL Infosystems (to address the Indian and APAC IT hardware market). HCL has since then operated as a holding company.

According to environmental organisation Greenpeace 29% of HCL products are currently free of toxic vinyl plastic (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs). In March 2010, HCL launched its first notebook entirely free of PVC and BFRs. [4]

Archies Limited (BSE: 532212|NSE: ARCHIES) (earlier called Archies Greetings and Gifts Ltd.) is an Indian company based in New Delhi[2]. It was started in 1979 by Anil Moolchandani[3]. Initially it sold song books, posters and leather patches. The company's main product, greeting cards, was introduced in 1980. Cards were introduced for major Indian festivals such as Holi, Diwali and Rakhi, apart from the usual new year, birthday and anniversary occasions. The company went public in 1995. In 1998, it was listed on the National Stock Exchange of India and Bombay Stock Exchange.
Archies Limited is in the business of manufacturing and selling greeting cards and other social expression products such as gifts and posters. Archies has a market share of about 50% of India's greeting cards market.[4]
Archies has about 2000 outlets and franchisees, called Archies Galleries, spread across 120 cities[5] and 6 countries. It has tie-ups and licensing arrangements for merchandising characters such as Dennis the Menace and Disney characters. It has arrangements with Paramount Cards Inc., Anne Geddes, and American Greetings, for greeting card design and name use.
Following the increasing popularity of e-cards, Archies started its online portal archiesonline.com in 2000.[6][7] The company expanded its product range to include artificial jewellery, crystal ware, chocolates and perfumes, and accordingly changed its name to Archies Limited in 2002.
