Indian smugglers kidnap BGB man in Comilla

Indian smugglers kidnapped a member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after a clash between the two sides at Dalkia village in Sadar Dakkhin upazila Friday morning that also left a smuggler dead.


BGB sources said some Indian smugglers were intruding into the Bangladesh territory with large quantities of phensidyl syrup through the Tripura border.


Tipped off, a patrol team of BGB chased them. The smugglers left the scene, leaving behind the contraband drugs.


Later, the smugglers returned, equipped with sticks and aided by some people of Indian Tarapukuria village of Tripura state.


They attacked the BGB members when they were returning with the contraband syrup at about 6:45am.


The BGB members fired six rounds of bullet in self defence when an unidentified Indian smuggler was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot.


The fellow smugglers took away the body and abducted a BGB man. They later handed over the BGB man to the BSF.


The identity of the BGB man could not be known immediately.


A flag meeting between the BGB and BSF over the return of the Bangladeshi border guard is scheduled to be held in the noon Friday.


A tense situation has been prevailing along the border area over the issue.

Indian national killed in border, BSF held a BGB man

COMILLA: An Indian national was shot dead by member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Tara Puskarni and Ekbalia area under sadar south upazila of the district, a bordering area of Bangladesh-India, early Friday.

Following the incident, Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) took away a member of Border Guard Bangladesh to its’ Dhanpur camp.The deceased was identified as Shah Alam, hailed from India’s Sonamura area.

BSF and BGB sources said Shah Alam was involved in smuggling.

Head of the BGB’s Detective Branch of Comilla-33 Major Istiak Ahmed told banglanews, “A smuggler was shot dead by BGB man while he was trying to intrude Bangladesh with drugs in bordering Tarapuskurni Par area.”

Following the incident, BSF personnel took away BGB Habildar Lutfur Rahman. A flag meeting between BGB and BSF will be held over giving back the BGB man and solve border problems at noon on Friday.

Locals said two or three BGB men intercepted Shah Alam while he was trying to trespass Bangladesh with drugs and other smuggled goods.

“At one stage of altercation, some of Indian smugglers cordoned BGB men with lethal weapons that forced Habilder Lutfur to open fire on the smugglers, leaving Shah Alam dead,” a spot account said.Later, BSF men rushed in and took Lutfur away to India while other two BGB men managed to flee the spot.

Tension mounted in the area following the incident.

A farmer was shot dead in Sipahijala district on Friday along the Indo-Bangla border by Border Guards of Bangaldesh, police said. DIG, Police (Control), Nepal Das said, the farmer, Shaha Alam of Tarakpur village, went to till his field at about 6:30am when he was shot dead by BGB personnel.

They also tried to pull the body across the border but the villagers rushed to the spot and prevented them from doing so, Das said.The villagers managed to detain a head constable of BGB, who was later handed over to Border Security Personnel, he said.

Top officials of BSF, BGB and Superintendent of Police of Sipahijala have rushed to the spot with additional forces. The DIG said the situation was tense but under control.

Thats what I think. BGB should not had crossed the zero line even if they were chasing the smugglers. Its very unlikely that BGB would open fire if they were not attacked. But whatever the story, should have a full investigation.

Regarding bolding the name of Indian national suggest you guys are paranoid by religion. We moved on from 1947 since long and did cut our relationship with Indian Muslims. We see them as Indian national.
