Indian scammers are robbing Americans - Mark Rober

After massive relocation of calls centers from India, now they are convert to scam yards. A massive industry hurting US citizens.

The worst scam:

A number of a person close to you is compromised and the scammer manipulated the call to register a fake caller ID.
A person I know got a call from her "daughters phone " . The person' daughter was a dentist. When she picked up the call the caller claimed to be a lawyer appointed by the police department to represent her daughter. The caller claimed to be using her daughter's phone and calling on her behalf as her daughter was under arrest and detention for a malpractice incident resulting in the death of the patient. He was calling to request funds for an immediate bail to be paid in cash.
The lady who had just lost her husband was so distraught that she immediately agreed to provide the funds. She was instructed to purchase prepaid gift cards and speak the card numbers and pin code on the phone which she did.
The cards of course were promptly redeemed by the scammer.
The lady who was retired of modest means lost $3000 in hard cash .

In another similar case another retired lady paid a similar amount to a " hospital " as advance payment for multiple surgeries required as her daughter lay unconscious after a deadly car crash.
Apart from the loss of funds thede two mothers spent agonizing moments wondering about the fate of their daughters .
These scammers need to be hung from the nearest lampost.
They tried these tricks on the Russians but got badly burnt - literally. The Russians hacked into their servers and changed the voltage settings to 110 V . Since India uses 220 V the power modules on the servers were fried and some caught fire.
