This the interior of chinese trainsets running in of Sri Lankan Railways. They also happen to have hand straps and fans. Go figure.


Yes, you can get a phot from 100 years ago and put it here, I was only surprised that why there are fans on the train and what those hand straps for.

Years ago that can be true, if they were imported decades ago, but now I don't think anywhere those trains are still in production.

:lol: Nope they were imported in 2012.

Making air conditioned coaches is not rocket science. As I said, it is as per the requirements of Sri Lankan railways. They have first, second and third class coaches. Second and third class coaches are not air conditioned, this goes for both the Chinese made and Indian made trains of the Sri Lankan railways.

Sri Lanka is a humid country with tropical climate, you need the fans to survive the train journey, especially when it starts to rain and you have the shut the windows close. Same goes for the hand straps. Locals use these trains for their daily commute as well, 30-40KM commute and during peak hours many have to stand through the journey. This is when the hand straps come in handy.

Here's the video of the new trainset. As you can see, no fans and hand straps in first class.
