This is not 1990s when jihadis can cross LOC to create havoc. Now it is almost impossible for jihadis to cross LOC with the kind of high tech equipment and forces that are deployed on LOC. So there is no way that gun culture is going to return to Kashmir. Yes, the stone pelting will continue and after 5 years or so may be a similar kind of unrest is going to happen if the government doesn't make efforts to bring Kashmiris into main stream.

You are kidding yourself. Indians are not scared of anyone. Over the last seventy years, courtesy the anti-national congress governments we had a Muslim appeasement policy in Kashmir which led to the ethnic cleansing of the Kashmiri Pandits. Today, the situation we have in our hands is five districts in the valley with a population of 6.5 million asking for Azadi. They account for 55 per cent of the population of J&K and their contribution to the GDP of J&K is about 20 per cent. The remaining 80 per cent comes from Leh and Jammu. For a change we have elected a government in India that represents the views of 1.25 billion Indians. Modi government will cut the subsidies that these guys used to enjoy at the expense of the Indian taxpayers' money. These people in the valley can elect their own government and live the way they want. They are empowered to buy properties elsewhere in India and we can't buy property in Kashmir. That's the kind of autonomy these worthless people have. That'll change moving forward. These guys will either learn to live a civilized life or they will be treated the way Palestinians are being treated by Israel.

No one pushed these people. if they wanted to lead an honest life and get their kids to become productive they could have done that. Some of them do, like the Wani who topped BSF exams and joined them. Most of them don't. Were these guys able to govern them they would have elected effective governments within the Indian constitution and they would have prospered. They didn't in 70 years and they still believe they can rule themselves if we concede some land.
