Kuala Lumpur, Mar 13 (PTI) An advanced Indian offshore patrol vessel, Sankalp, will sail into Malaysia''s Port Klang tomorrow on a 6-day goodwill visit, cementing long standing maritime ties between the two countries.
Under the command of Deputy Inspector General S D Bhanot, the Indian Coast Guard ship will berth at the port from March 14 to 19, a statement issued by the High Commission said.
The Indian Coast Guard and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency both share common perceptions on measures to fight Piracy at Sea, Search and Rescue Operations, Law Enforcement Measures, Pollution Control Measures, Protection of Oil and Energy Resources and Maritime Patrolling, it said.
"The ship, commissioned in 2008, is an advanced offshore patrol vessel, first of its class and has been indigenously designed and built in India.
The 105 meter-long and 2300 ton ship, fitted with most advanced equipment with state-of-the-art technology, has endurance of approximately one month and has two indigenous 30-mm CRN-91 gun along with fire control systems mounted on it," it said.
The ship, designed to carry one twin engine ALH Bhanot, will also host senior officials of Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and civil dignitaries during the Ship''s stay at Port Klang, it added.
