Indian nuclear forces, 2012

Evidence points to Myanmar nuclear program - UPI.com

What'll you say about this then? As i said, they have zero credibility. Even many think tanks in south Asian countries thinks 9/11 was a inside job (yes, you got that right whom i'm talking about. ;) ).

You will find many such self-styled think tanks on the net. All of them are certainly not credible. UPI is no military think tank.

Trust me...India does not have more than 110/120 warheads at the moment...though we have the fissile material to make atleast 1000 more...but it will happen when the need arises.

My friend... India and Pakistan both passed the 200kT marker back in 2001 :) Think bigger :D

And what the fraK is up with this 90-100 estimate? My guesstimate is 300+ for both India and Pakistan!

I am afraid but the thing in bold above is all "ONLY in your HEAD" not in reality.

India only has designs for 200KT device...Pakistan cant even exceed 50kT yield forget 200kT.

200 kT is an overkill, 50kT is ideal for total destruction and massive radiation fallout. As it seems, radiation fallout is inversely proportional to total yield.

Forget radiation, if we are nuked, we will erase the enemy.

200KT is ideal for Agni 2/3/5 and to destroy a city of large size.

India has one of the largest Uranium reserve in the world. Which have been found recently. So, the no. of nuclear is expected to go up in future. I also agree that India has atleast 200 warhead. The actual no. of warheads has never been disclosed by the government.

From wikipedia:
In Nalgonda District, the Rajiv Gandhi Tiger Reserve (the only tiger project in Andhra Pradesh) has been forced to surrender over 3,000 sq. kilometres to uranium mining, following a directive from the Central Ministry of Environment and Forests.[9]

In 2007, India was able to extract 229 tonnes of U3O8 from its soil. On July 19, 2011, Indian officials announced that the Tumalapalli mine in Andhra Pradesh state of India could provide more than 170,000 tonnes of uranium, making it as the world's largest uranium mine. Production of the ore is slated to begin in 2012.

As India vies for enriched uranium from the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) members to get the raw material for its nuclear power plants, the scientists here have found massive uranium deposits in the mines of Tumalapalli in Andhra Pradesh. The site has the potential to emerge as the largest reserve of the key nuclear fuel in the world.

The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) recently discovered that the upcoming mine in Tumalapalli has close to 49,000 tonne of uranium reserves. This could just be a shot in the arm for India's nuclear power aspirations as it is three times the original estimate of the area's deposits.[11]

In fact, there were indications that the total quantity of uranium could go up to 150,000 tonnes, which would make it among the largest uranium mines in the world.

The fact that Tumalapalli might have uranium reserves has been known for a while, but it took four years for the estimate to come to the present level.

Thats true.

India also has designs for 200 kT yield.

journalists have done a good job stating that india has less nukes compared to its neighbors , this has created good impression in international community .

.
IF it Says under 100 ,then y contest it? were ok where we are. I hope no one has to find out how many we actually have.

As far as the world is concerned ,they don't need to worry about the Indian Nuclear arsenal.

Actually India is REALLY behind Pakistan.

Pakistan runs 24x7 shifts when it comes to producing nuclear warheads...India is not as aggressive.

Pakistan knows very well that only nuclear weapons can save it against an Indian attack.

See, here's my explanation.

1. There are several warheads in launch ready states in form of missiles or gravity bombs.

2. And several warheads that can be assembled to the launch platform within several hours.

3. And there are fissile materials which can be incorporated in warheads and later into missiles within a short time frame.

I'm talking about 1 and 2 here, which might exceed 200 even under conservative estimate.

any reactor will run for 24*7 .
Plz explain me , how they have more fissile materials .

.
so lets not talk about actual warheads .....

what is the amount of weapons grade plutonium India produces each year ?

Just Google it and you would know ..........:azn:

Officially, India DOES NOT maintain land based nuclear warheads. Even if they are, the count wont be very high.

Almost all Indian warheads fall in the second category that you mentioned above.

Plz explain me , how they have more fissile materials .

1 All reactors are not for military purposes.
2 Running of reactors alone does not mean warheads are produced. They have to tested, integrated and put under proper controls with Indian football system or whatever its called.
3 India has more fissile material (since we have more reactors) but India stores this material for future use, they are not being weaponized.

That will be quite idiotic, isn't it? While we're talking about second strike within minutes, and we don't have any launch ready platforms. :D

Second strike involves submarines.

I mentioned only "land based" nuclear warheads in my post.

Do you think India has nuclear missiles in subs ?

.
we had fissile material of 1000+ nukes in year 2000.i read smwhere..

i m done wid this 70-90 :hitwall:

who lets others to knw abt nukes number?

90 or 9000, it makes no difference, nuke weapons are not intended to be used in a war on the contrary they are weapons of peace having just psychological impact. It's better to utilize the funds to build up our conventional forces.
