Indian Navigation Satellite System “NAVIC” : Security Challenges for Pakistan

Regarding this hindian statlite...Pak forces must keep monitoring its location with ground based stations..develop techniques to hack it when necessary and in the mean time develop laser based tech to burn the hostile statelites in case of war.
Hack it, right. In all these years how many satellites got hacked btw. Mind you Chinese and Russians are much better hackers and US has much bigger fleet of sats.

.
Till 1970s SUPARCO was way ahead from Indian space program,,,then....

1970s ? Well no.

develop techniques to hack it when necessary and in the mean time develop laser based tech to burn the hostile statelites in case of war.

You're too ambitious, dear.

That's rich coming from a nation which has outsourced every single component on their signature weopons program including but not limited to Tejas, brahmos etc.

Stop ranting.

The resolution mentioned here are wrong, the civilian service has an accuracy of 10 m, while the military service has a resolution of 2 m.
There are many pro-ISRO sources have claimed that figure, but we will have to wait till it gets operational and adopted by the civilians and Army. I read in one of the magazines that the accuracy for civilian service is around 15-20 mts and 5-10 mts for military services, and the magazine had a very detailed article on NAVIC.

I saw one surveyors IRS map of our university in early 2000's. It was definitely better than 5mtrs resolution. I was able to make out bikes!

The entire notion that any any nation can depend on a foreign navigation system "reliably" is entirely moot and not even worth discussing, even if we are talking about the world's greatest friendship that is higher than the mountains and blah blah blah.

Sure for butt hurt indians it is inconceivable "notion" that Pakistan can reliable depend of Chinese nevegation system.

Secondly, India doesn't have to worry about Pakistan developing ASAT tech, the US will take care of any such threats on India's behalf purely because the US is more inclined to actively deter the development of such tech

Oh yes, US had committed to india that they will wage war and put their asset on risk on behalf of india. Indians never miss a chance to talk fluff and looking for someone coat tail.

Indian-Regional-Navigation-Satellite-System-IRNSS.jpg

Posted By: News Deskon: June 02, 2016
On April 28, 2016 Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched seventh and final satellite to complete its own (Indian) Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) which will be called NAVIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) as announced by their Premier Narendra Modi.

It all started when Indian army failed in monitoring Pakistani troops and denial of the U.S. to give access of its GPS system to India during Kargil War. Though recently senior fellow at Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), Ajey Lele has denied this Kargil story by saying there is no official confirmation.

However, several Indian newspapers second this fact that the main objective was military use and chief beneficiary of this system is the Indian military. The total cost of the project was US $ 211 million and will provide accurate information regarding surveillance, reconnaissance, imaging, navigation and communications in India as well as from the extended area of 1500 km in the region.
This system will offer two types of services, Standard Positioning Service (SPS) for civilian users and Restricted Service (RS), which is an encrypted service for military and agencies. Along with NAVIC, India is already working on fourth generation GSAT dedicated military communication satellites.

In this respect, ISRO successfully launched GSAT-6 in August 2015 which transmits five spot beams over the Indian mainland with help of a very exceptional huge antennae. In modern network centric warfare a large antennae will assist Indian strategic forces to communicate with each other on a secure band.

Similarly, India’s GSAT-7 satellite successfully launched in August 2013 that will assist Indian Navy to enhance its blue water combat skills. Surely, it is imposing security challenges for Pakistan while strengthening the Indian battlefield strategy, robust system for location identification and navigational support will be strengthened.

It will connect all three domains that are sea based assets (warships, nuclear submarines and air craft carries), land based assets (troops formation, conventional war tech, ballistic and cruise missiles) and air force assets (combat aircrafts).
Besides, Indian surveillance capabilities with better than 20 m eye will then be able to get accurate information on Pakistani territory, its China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), logistics, sensitive naval, air force, military installations and deployment, etc.

Pakistan established its space program eight years earlier than the Indian space organization, but SUPARCO is now nowhere near to ISRO. It is so obvious that Pakistan governments’ priorities are off the beam in term of emphasis on space technology. Today Indian department of space has budget of round about 1 billion dollars whereas SUPARCO size in terms of monetary funds is 30.6 million dollars. India signed a framework agreement with NASA for future cooperation in 2008 and recently in 2016 inked agreements for launching satellites from UK and Singapore.

The Indian Defence Ministry has already hinted that space warfare is a priority area till 2025 under “Technology Perspective and Capability Roadmap”. Its aims to assure key technology requirements of Indian Armed Forces and integrated warfare by reducing the risk in the battlefield with the capable system of delivering information on real time basis.

Pakistan should also explore such avenues to create a platform that SUPARCO can also deliver indigenous navigational satellite system. For instance, we developed the tactical nuclear weapons (TNWs) to successfully counter the so called proactive strategy of Indian Cold Start Doctrine (CSD). We are proud of our scientists and engineers yet the decision of its deployment and use is reserved with the National Command Authority.

By this mean, we will get an alternative way of shadowing Indian military strategy, troops and assets deployment in case of CSD is implemented and we can also assure effective maneuverability to deploy TNWs, ballistic and cruise missiles. Considerably the civil uses and benefits of the navigational system are huge which will also improve our disaster management expertise.

Even though, our fragile economy is main hurdle in the way of social and technological development. Still the government, opposition and military establishments must plan to allocate appropriate budget for the employment of advance technology is the need of time.

Thnx to 9/11 and sneaky eyes of USA pak shifted there American nav to Chinese

BEIJING: Pakistan is set to become the fifth Asian country to use China’s domestic satellite navigation system which was launched as a rival to the US global positioning system, a report said Saturday.

The Beidou, or Compass, system started providing services to civilians in the region in December and is expected to provide global coverage by 2020. It also has military applications.

Thailand, China, Laos and Brunei already use the Chinese system, which currently consists of 16 operational satellites, with 30 more due to join the system, according to English-language China Daily.

Huang Lei, international business director of BDStar Navigation, which promotes Beidou, told the newspaper the company would build a network of stations in Pakistan to enhance the location accuracy of Beidou. He said building the network would cost tens of millions of dollars.

American website Defensenews.com reported early May that Pakistani military experts were in favour of using the Chinese system, even though the availability of the signal could not be guaranteed in case of conflict. But according to one of them, Pakistan cannot place its trust in the United States.

“Pakistan’s armed forces cannot rely on US GPS because of its questionable availability during a conflict that has overtones of nuclear escalation,” former Pakistan Air Force pilot Kaiser Tufail told the site.

The Pakistan Army Corps of Signals (Urdu: ﺁرمى سيگنل كور; Army Signal Core, is an active combatant military administrative staff corps and a major intelligence and science and technology command of Pakistan Army.[1] The corps core objectives includes the research and development, tests, and manage themilitary communications and information systems support for the command and control of combined arms forces.[1]

Initially part of Indian Army Corps of Signals which was established by Royal Engineers in 1911, its members and officers closely allied itself with Royal Corps of Signals, actively participated shoulder-to-shoulder in World War II, at a time when Germany invaded Great Britain.[2] It came to existence on 14 August 1947, when Indian Army Corps of Signals was divided into two parts by theBritish Government, with one part remaining in India while other units formed what is now known as Corps of Signals in Pakistan. It was the brain-child of British Army's intelligence officer Major-General R. Cawthome who also founded and established the premier ISI in 1948.[2] The Corps was supplemented withRoyal Corps of Signals officers to assist into building the Corps to working strength.[2] As soon as the Pakistan Army's signal officer were trained, the officer quickly replaced the British signal officers and closely allied the Corps with U.S. Army Signal Corps where the U.S. Signal Corps furthered privded advanced military training to Corps of Signals.[2][3]

Major. General. Obedur Rehman was the first SO-in-C of the Corps of Signals. On March 23, 1956, the Corps was re-designed as Corps of Signals, and more objectives were made responsible to Corps.[2][3] In 1948, the Corps established the Military College of Signals to train the personnel and officers for the Corps.[2][3] A major re-organization were carried out when Corps officers also helped established the Joint Signal Intelligence (JSI) and the Corps nomenclature was also changed. The regiments and squadrons became as battalions and companies.[4] In 1962, the unit was sent to Iran to help built the Iranian Army's own Signal corps,[2] and as for its war capabilities, the Corps took participation in 1947 war, 1965 war, 1971 war, 1999 war, with India.[4] The Corps was also involved with Afghanistan war, Bosnian war, and the Bangladesh war, making the Corps as Pakistan Army's principle combatant arm.[4]

As for its capabilities in science and technology, the Corps worked closely withDefence Science and Technology Organization (DESTO) to develop command and control software, and is notable for its participation for developing the communication system for Badr-II satellite.[5]

“Nations have no permanent friends or allies, they only have permanent interests.”

Anyone who thinks China is some alturistic nation that does not conform to all established norms is being rather naive.

Oh yes, US had committed to india that they will wage war and put their asset on risk on behalf of india. Indians never miss a chance to talk fluff and looking for someone coat tail.

You clearly didn't understand what I wrote. NEVER will the US (or anyone) go to war for India BUT the US would ensure Pakistan never gains the capability to credibly pose a threat to THEIR sats and by extension India's.

Pak has nothing to worry about. Their military is very well organised and modern. The Pak forces just don't boast.

Don't need all that. Just get some expertise to make one of these.

So u will just shoot down all Sat with ASAT huh? Funny ........

he just did..
