Makes sense. It's not just the MNC's. There are a lot of Contract Manufacturers for MNC's who also launch their own brand of generic/fake drugs. End result is that the drugs are cheaper.
To Below Freezing's point: True there is a big spurious drug trade in India, but right below India is China. In your own link OECD says 75% but WHO says 35% is from India. Really inconsistent data. Only reason it is so is because local Chinese rely a lot on traditional Chinese medicine rather than drugs.
BTW could some one please enlighten me on how it is possible to legally export spurious/fake drugs? Unless the African's or Pakistani's have acquired the drugs through illegal means,there are numerous checkpoints it has to pass and trade in fake drugs is next to impossible.
