This particular headline, however, did not go down well with the Turkish government, and on July 20th, Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkey was summoned to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to give an explanation.

Turkey called on Pakistan to put pressure on the 'Daily Times' newspaper to withdraw the news report from its online edition and issue an unconditional apology. There were more demands from Turkey.

PAKTURK International Schools and Colleges is a network that is run by U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, who Turkey blames for the coup attempt. According to a Voice of America report, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Sadik Babur Girgin demanded the immediate closure of these schools in Pakistan.

On both of these requests made by Turkey, there has been no progress from the Pakistani side, despite the close ties between Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifand Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) chief Imran Khan, considered close to the Pakistan Army, argued that the future of thousands of Pakistani children should not be jeopardized as a result of the failed Turkish coup.

To add insult to injury, the 'Daily Times' ran a two-part series of articles in it's online edition that accused Erdogan of becoming increasingly authoritarian in the last few years and initiating purges in his government against those who held differing views. The article went on to highlight how during Erdogan's Presidency, crimes against women was on the rise, Islamic bigots had infiltrated the Turkish bureaucracy and institutions and how Turkey was staring at a bleak future.

Pakistan's non-compliance of these issues points to a rift in the oft lauded Turkish-Pakistan "brotherly relationship", with many experts pointing fingers at the Pakistani army for usurping the country's foreign policy that led to this situation. Pakistani Army Chief General Raheel Sharif's anti-Erdogan views are driven by many factors, especially the close ties between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Erdogan.

The Pakistan army chief is also guided by the deep Chinese mistrust of Erdogan which stems from allegations made by China in the past against Turkish government for issuing passports to fundamentalist Chinese Uyghurs from Xinjiang, including members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement, which allowed them to move to Turkey with ease. The Chinese government has stated that Turkish embassies in Malaysia, Thailand and China are involved in such activities.

What BS? there is nothing bad about Pak-Turk relationship, their FM just appreciated us a few days ago.

If Turkish government think closure of school will improve Pak Turkey relation then this is a really pitfull. If they want those schools to be closed then they should also provide alternative for those children who will be affected. Turkey has suffered a major blow but they shouldn't be alienating the few countries who still support them over such petty issues.

Some fellow proxies aren't clearly happy seeing their super dad being trampled like ants..

As for the FETO run schools, they'll be transformed as the center of the spider web is being destroyed..

Why General Sharif be upset? Isn't he running a costly COIN against the proxies himself?

our relationship/brotherhood with Turkiye is TIME-TESTED and UNBREAKABLE, these are old and ancient ties and they go beyond politics like this. The coup attempt is an internal matter of Turkiye and not our business or concern. The issue of the Turkish schools run by Hizmet can be resolved behind closed doors. By the way I dont believe the article, which claims Turkiye govt. asked for an apology. I doubt that even happened. It is true that Pres. Erdogan wants Gulen run schools closed down in Turkiye, Pakistan and other places. Lets see what happens. The relations always were and will be strong - with Turkish people, government and armed forces

How will closure of school Improve our relations or hurt gullen? Those schools are providing free education to thousands of children so what do you think those children should do after they will loose their only chance for some free education. Turkey should rather provide alternative to those student first rather than asking for closure of those schools.

The schools are run by Gulenist volunteers. It's a pyramid organization. Bottom layer is Hizmet (service), middle layer is Tijaret (business) and the top layer is Ihanet (treachery). I sincerely hope that they have kept it within the first two layers. I think Pak authorities will ensure that they don't pass to the top layer - just a friendly advice..

Buddy, dont believe this crap, the source is ANI, here is what ANI is, its an Indian news agency !!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_News_International

"The Asian News International (ANI) is an Indian news agency based in New Delhi that provides multimedia news to 50 bureaus in India and most of South Asia. Coverage includes general news, entertainment, lifestyles, business, science, sports and features.[1] As of 2015 the Chairman was Prem Prakash.[2] Sanjiv Prakash was the Editor and CEOof Asian News International"

Indian media is getting pretty desperate these days, why would Gen Sharif be unhappy with Turks, he was there in Turkey I believe this year, no one can sow the seeds of hatred against the Turks in the hearts of people of Pakistan, even the British empire's might couldn't stop these people to go on horseback to Turkey to fight for the Turks, Indian establishment should read history before trying these dumb tactics. In another news :

well Turkish govt should have investigate before complaining about daily times.. daily times is not top or important media organization..

Damn it, ANI an Indian news agency reported it and you believed it, come on buddy, atleast do research before commenting. Show me one other link from any decent and reliable news agency, No one summoned Pak ambassador, Turkey is the country which recalled its ambassador from Bangladesh in support of Pakistan, don't fall for these cheap tactics.
