Away from the swordplay on social media and government to government engagement, I am genuinely curious to know what is the perception of regular Pakistani folk about Hafeez Saeed and India's claim to him for his role in the Mumbai massacre of over 160 innocent lives?

Do you think if you had handed him over to us things could have been better for the lives of common Pakistanis today? Over a decade of international and financial marginalization?

Let us hypothetically forget about right and wrong and the decent thing to do etc. Look at it only from the lens of pure self interest.

It was a serious question with not much in the way of expectations of a serious reply aside from the juvenile laugh emojis employed, which is all they can do to hide their shame and embarrassment. Don't get them wrong. Regardless of what we have faced, they are common folk like us and there are many decent bandas and bandis amongst them too. I have some Pakistani friends. I know they were aghast about what happened. They cannot face me on this topic but they cannot bring themselves either to openly admit that their people could do something this nasty and downright cheap and cowardly. Buzdil harkat. Jo janwaron mein geedaron se expect Kiya jata hai. Sheron pe dhoke se hamla. I've seen how Pakistan changed after that. And they have seen how India changed. Luckily I find most of them have managed to escape the reality of what is Pakistan and continue to joist with us fromnicer shores. One in in Texas. Sweet kid. The other I learn has managed to get to Iraq. Some other in the US. One in the UK. They all know that the same guys they are abusing today, and powerless to do anything about as they loot and burn their mother country, are the guys who attacked us. And are the guys who were shielded from us as their country went to ruin, as India and other nations hit back and squeezed in wats available to them against a nuclear armed state.

There is no genuine religious belief involved. I recall there were 26 or 27 Muslims among the dead.
