@Lankans:
* New cars are heavily taxed in countries like Sri Lanka?
* refurbished or "Japan" cars are famous among common people due to lesser price and reliability, machine precision(build quality) ?
* Maruti is seen as a "Indian" Car, since it is manufactured in India? Do SriLankans know that Maruti is Suzuki not "Maruti" as in 1980s
* is there a culture of owning brand new cars(considering Indian Cars are the reliable and Affordable new cars, next to original Euro-Jap imports) and selling off after the honeymoon time(2-4years), hence a healthy second hand market without bringing in euro-japan refurbished ones?
Yep, There is heavy tax on cars here, having a car here means actually having 2-3 cars in other countries. It's due to we are an island.
People love Japanese vehicles coz of technology, reliability and quality. Japanese refurbished vehicles aren't cheap, their price is double than brand new Indian/ Sri Lankan cars mostly.
Yep, Maruti Suzuki is seen as Indian. They haven't idea about the difference.
Why not, There is a brand new culture, There are a lot of brand new vehicles on the road. Even the prices are higher all type of vehicles are on the road.
