Indian leopard population increases by 60 percent

Isn’t the Indian Leopard the same as the Bengali Tiger?
they are soooo different bhai.......leopards are spotted and compared to cheetah in size while bengal/indian tiger is second largest of all the cat family (after siberian tiger) and have stripes.
As a fan of big cats I hope the global tiger population will double by 2025 as well.
dont take it personal, but as long as chinese populace still believe "miraculous" effects of tiger bone powder; tiger population will drop (unless of course u r sarcarstic about ur comment).
Their tiger population also doubled recently. A remarkable feat indeed. Kudos
I am in awe of India's hunting laws and control.
lol...we are one of the worst

India is lucky to be native place of almost all big cats...

Lion
Tiger
Leopard
Snow Leopard
Cheetah(Sadly Extinct)

there were talks of Iranian Cheetahs to be introduced in India but it seems the deal was rejected by Iran... so African Cheetahs will be introduced after due research though

Tracking leopards and tigers is trickier than tracking lions since the latter congregate in prides and usually roam in the open plains and have clearly marked territory. Up until recently scientists did not know that there actually has been a marked drop in leopard populations around the world since they didn’t have the advanced population survey methods we use today. The fact that leopards are making a comeback in India is promising for the species as a whole.

Iran wanted India to provide Asian Lions in exchange for its Cheetahs, but Gujarat government till very recently did not even even permitted other Indian states to possess it's lion so seeing the futility of such deal Indian Govt dropped it. Only recently when threat of floods and an epidemic risked the extinction of the Asian lions species due to their limited habitat, Gujarat govt reluctantly agreed to relocate some of its lions in a new sanctuary in state of Madhya pradesh.
