LAHORE: The rocket-launchers and explosives used in the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team are in the use of Indian forces, Dawn has learnt.

According to a forensic report, four rocket-launchers and nine explosives seized from the scene are factory-made and used by Indian forces.

Forty grenades, 10 sub-machine guns (SMGs), five pistols, 577 live rounds of SMGs and 160 bullets of pistols were also found there. The terrorists had fired 312 bullets, two rockets and detonated two bombs.

‘No suicide jacket was found at the scene, suggesting that they were not on a suicide mission. The SMGs used in the attack are of Russian, German and Chinese made,’ an investigator told Dawn on Monday.

Six policemen and a Pakistan Cricket Board van driver lost their lives when a group of a dozen terrorists ambushed Sri Lankan cricketers’ convoy near the Liberty roundabout in Lahore on March 3. Six of the Sri Lankan players suffered injuries.

Although none of the 12 terrorists involved in the gory act has been arrested so far, investigators have come up with a claim based on ‘positive leads’ that none of the militant organisations in the country had the capacity to carry out the attack without the help of a state agency.

‘The ammunition and communication network is the base of our claim that a state agency is also involved,’ said the investigator. He said that law-enforcement agencies had taken over 100 suspects into custody, but yet to arrest any of the terrorists.

’Unfortunately all terrorists (involved in the attack) managed to flee to the tribal belt (probably Waziristan) owing to ‘belated’ response by police to go after them soon after the attack,’ he said.

Investigators are now convinced that the mastermind of the attack had four objectives: (1) To sour Pakistan’s relations with Sri Lanka, (2) to stop foreign teams from coming to Pakistan, (3) to destabilise Pakistan and (4) to tell it (Pakistan) that its state agency is more capable than its (ISI) in carrying out such attacks even in the midst of huge security presence.

Investigators however clarify that the attackers did not want to hijack the cricketers’ bus as they wanted to meet the above objectives ‘Hijacking often takes place when culprits want to secure the release of someone,’ they said.

A four-member police team, headed by Punjab’s Additional Inspector-General of Police (Investigation) Salahuddin Khan Niazi, and another joint investigation team comprising officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB), have been investigating the matter.

Enough evidence to blame the indian govt in the attack.......if it was the other way round would it not work that way?

Ahhahahahaaa....Many of the weapons used in african civil wars is Russian made that doesnt mean Russia is causing Civil war.:

Does that count for pakistan also....or does pakistan get judged by another set of rules

Bytheway who is the source again???:hitwall:

What difference is it going to make to your opinion if the link is posted?

the source was Dawn. And Dawn is a very credible source.

To be honest, we will need more evidence. We should un-cover the link. Pictures and footage of the terrorists' weapons is not enough. 100s of suspects have been rounded up and questioned, but we'll never know until all 10 terrorists are captured interrogated and tried.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday shared with Sri Lanka the findings of preliminary investigations of Lahore suicide attack on Sri Lankan cricket team, which, indicated complete security lapse and involvement of foreign hand, sources in the interior ministry told Dawn.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik handed over the report to Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jayalath Weerakkody.

‘The meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere in which latest situation of investigations on attack on Sri Lankan cricket team came under discussion,’ the ministry’s spokesman said.

‘Sri Lankan High commissioner appreciated the law enforcement agencies who gave their lives in protecting the members of Sri Lankan Cricket Team and thanked the government for handling the matter after the issue particularly provision of helicopter and immediate arrangements for prompt and safe evacuation of the team,’ the spokesman said.

He lauded the courage demonstrated by the law enforcement agencies in protecting the Sri Lankan Cricket Team and hoped that the two teams will play cricket again in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in future.

The investigation report on terrorist attack on Sri Lankan Cricket team in Lahore on March 3 revealed security lapse that inadequate number of police force was deployed for the security of the guest team.

The 40-point report said there was complete security lapse when 10 to 12 terrorists conducted the attack while the guest team was on its way to the stadium from a hotel. It said police did not reach the site of the attack on time to backup the police party that continued to fight with the terrorists for almost a-half-an-hour.

It revealed that planning and financing of the attack was carried in some foreign country and there are indications that militants fighting in South Waziristan were used by the perpetrators.

At least six policemen escorting the team bus were killed, along with a driver. Seven cricketers and an assistant coach were injured in the attack.

About 12 gunmen were involved and grenades and rocket launchers have been recovered. The incident bore similarities to deadly attacks in Mumbai in India last November.

According to the report, police have so far failed to arrest even a single attacker conducted the attack despite the arrest of five alleged handlers who had reportedly helped the terrorists to carry out the attack.

A white-coloured car that was believed to be used in the attack and was impounded by the police, was sold from Sialkot and then it was brought to Lahore for the attack.

Punjab government has also admitted that it has failed to nab any of the culprits who had carried out the attack.

According to an official report of the provincial government, not a single perpetrator of the terror attack has been put behind the bar yet.

The report viewed the attackers as members of a highly-trained group, and feared that they could initiate more such attacks in near future.

The government report is in complete contrast with the statement of Pakistan Prime Minister’s Advisor on Interior Affairs, Rehman Malik, who a day after the attack had claimed that few persons were taken into custody and told media persons that intelligence agencies had gathered sufficient information about the terrorists involved. ‘A major breakthrough would be achieved in the next few days,’ Malik had claimed.

Wow, astonished to see this thread still open!
The question rises, if it was Indian made, then how did it get into the hands of terrorists?
And from where did they get the weapons?
They were used by Indian army, so the fact is
1) Either they would have planned it
2) A retiree has done it
3) Someone inside gave weapons to terrorists
4) The weapon were stolen (but how?)

Anyway it is, Indian hand is still seen there.

If we see why would they have done this,
then

1) Decrease reputation of Pakistan
2) Scare ICC not to hold WC in Pakistan, but India to get large sums of cash
3) Scare other teams to not come in Pakistan

Thats my point of view, of course!

oh crap!!!! Another "believed" news please about time the government exposes our neighbor because they sure as hell go overboard in trying to blame us!

why did you reopen an old thread.....

by the way the first post also mentions Russian,German,Chinese wepons to be found.....India might be using russian made wepons but what explanation do you have for chinese wepons?......India-China-German nexus against Pakistan?...lol

people here are masters of making delusional thread names.
where the article says that proofs of indian hands are found??
there are even russian and chinese made weapons found so are they trying to spoil pakistans image as well?????
and nobody needs to spoil pakistans image in terms of terrorism taliban is doing it very effectively.
and BTW our so mighty RAW will use authenticate army weapons to carry out such attack?? arent they supposed to be very good at their job so would they commit such blunder and even leave their weapons for pakistani government to see as proofs???//
