I don't know how it works for you, for us, we just go about our business. Whether someone respects us or not, depends upon a whole lot of factors which may or may not be under our control. So, we don't worry about that. Get the job done and get out. If you are respectable, it will come to you.

Actually no, not in the way you use that term. It's a Buddhist concept - "Karma" being an action that leads to future consequences. That's what westerners have also fashionably pounced upon. In hindu tradition, "Karma" just means action or duty. Their texts talk about detached devotion to duty (karma) being the highest ideal.
