India is making much hue and cry of being trapped among adversaries. After the overwhelming influence of China the minor countries like Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Afghanistan are coming under its umbrella. Nepal recently made India to lick the dust by not joining joint military exercise of BMISTC countries and joining Chinese exercise instead. India will intensify propaganda against China to portray as a hegemonic ruler of the sub-continent in days to come. It will try to get monetary and defence benefits from west and US. As the turn of events suggest that India is successful in achieving its goal.
India, sharing common anxieties with the US against a rising China, has assumed new importance on Washington’s radar while Pakistan can no longer enjoy a special status like it did during the war on terror in Afghanistan, a leading Chinese daily has said.
In an opinion piece on last week’s India-US 2+2 dialogues, the Global Times, which reflects the view of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said it appeared the US’ South Asia policy has witnessed significant developments in the past few weeks.
It pointed out that the Trump administration, in its National Security Strategy and the National Defence Strategy, recently indicated that Washington’s strategic focus has shifted from dealing with global terrorism to managing major power rivalries.
The Chinese media have accused India of playing a “Double Game” with China, Russia and the US to get benefits from all the three sides. Prior to the dialogue, experts believed that the US demand to halt India’s oil imports from Iran and purchase of Russian S-400 air defence system would thwart US-India defence partnership. Surprisingly, Washington made concessions on both these issues.
Indian successful in holding 2+2 dialogues after even twice postponed as it made US to realize falsely that the formation of the US-India two plus two ministerial dialogue and the inking of the COMCASA is to counterbalance, even contain, China’s rise. The US hopes to form military alliances to confront China and exclude it from the process of globalization as it did with the USSR.
As seen in the interactions between India and the US it seems that later have been lured by the false propaganda of the former, more and more convergences between India’s China strategy and the US’ Indo-Pacific strategy. India poses China as the principal opponent in the region. It not only aims to counterbalance and contain China with help of US strength but also wants to overtake China on the surface but the hidden aims of India are quite opposite.
India shrewdly and cunningly trying to cozying up relation with US and have invited the US President to be the chief guest for the 2019 Republic Day parade (he has not confirmed attendance yet).
India trapped US in its cobweb of deceit and falsehood and resultantly piling up the arms and modern technology like it has signed the Helicopter Operations from Ships other Than Aircraft Carriers (HOSTAC); cleared imports of 24 MH-70 multi-role ship-borne helicopters (worth about $2 billion); indicated willingness to import an American “missile shield” for protecting Delhi against a 9/11-type terror attack (worth $1 billion) and on September 6, 2018 signed the Comcasa during the inaugural “2+2” dialogue in New Delhi. It agreed to have a hotline between the Indian foreign and defence ministers and their American counterparts, conduct the first-ever Indo-US tri-service military exercise in 2019 off the Indian east coast, depute an Indian Navy officer to the United States Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT), which deals with US Navy operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan. The Americans agreed to push for India’s entry into the Nuclear Suppliers Group.
India has also signed two of the three “foundational agreements” (“Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement” or LEMOA in 2016 and Comcasa in 2018) and is expected to sign Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geo-spatial Cooperation (BECA) in the future. All these will permit India as a “major defence partner” to import new American technology, receive the latest tactical pictures in real time from American units to American-origin Indian platforms like warships, naval P8I LRMP aircraft, MH-70 ship-borne helicopters, Sea Guardian armed drones, and IAF aircraft like C17, C130, Chinook heavy-lift helicopters, etc. The US is the global leader in satellite reconnaissance, electronic intelligence (ELINT) gathering, maritime domain awareness (MDA), anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and amphibious warfare. Thus, the Indian Navy would be major beneficiary from these real-time intelligence inputs, which would provide information on the location of Chinese warships, submarines in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and rest of Indo-Pacific Region (IPR), and also the daily location of about 70 supertankers which each carry over 100,000 tonnes of crude oil to China from the Middle East via the Sunda and Lombok straits.
On one hand India is adding to its military and defence technological reserves under the pretext of China while on the other hand it deceptively mitigating its distance from China The past few months have seen a rapprochement in China-India relations and sound interactions between the two. Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghe concluded his India visit. China is planning to run a bullet train from China to Kolkata.Speaking on the project the Chinese envoy that Myanmar and Bangladesh would benefit from the project and there will be a cluster of industries along the route.
What India learned from Kargil war is that it can only win war against Pakistan by tech edge but not against the valiant Pakistan army. India was on the verge of losing war when latest weaponry was injected through Israel which turned the table on Pakistan .Now all Indian attentions are to pile up modern technology by hook or crook, in this regard China excuse is working for India .But the truth is that in fact India will repeat the history as it did in 1965. In 1962 after having humiliating defeat from China India approached Russia and succeeded in retrieving big piles of arms from Russia in pretext of defence against China but after false calculations and poisoned by Arms heap attacked on Pakistan in 1965 where it has to lick the dust and had a befitting reply from Pakistan.
Now world should be careful before trusting on many faced goddess India who is in their belief. India has aggressive designs against its neighbours and accumulating arms to attack on its smaller neighbours like Pakistan. Indian duplicity is quite evident in BMISTEC where falsely raise the slogan of “Neighbours First” but on the other hand ignoring its major niebouring country Pakistan.
