Indian firing incidents continue as border talks begin
SIALKOT: The Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) carried out unprovoked aerial firing from the Indian post, tent position, late on Saturday night at the Pasroor sector of Sialkot working boundary. Such incidents of firing by on the Sialkot working border have been continuing for the last many weeks.
A flag meeting between the Pakistani Chenab Rangers authorities and the Indian BSF authorities was held Sunday in this regard, during which the Indian BSF authorities claimed to have killed some alleged border crosser in firing on Saturday.
However, the Chenab Rangers rejected the claims of the Indian BSF by labelling it as false and baseless and strongly protested against the repeated incidents of firing by the BSF. According to the officials, after the fencing of Sialkot working boundary by India a few years back, border crossing has become impossible for even small wild animals.
Agencies add: The three-day bi-annual meeting between the Pakistan Rangers and the Border Security Force of India has begun in Amritsar on Sunday. The Pakistan delegation is being headed by Pakistan Rangers Punjab DG comprising officials from the Pakistan Rangers Punjab and Sindh and the Anti-Narcotics Force.
The meeting will discuss various issues, including apprehension and killing of innocent inadvertent border crossers by the BSF, illegal defence constructions, violation of Pakistan airspace by Indian helicopters and remotely piloted vehicles (RPVs) and smuggling in connivance with the BSF. The release and repatriation of Pakistani prisoners from the Indian jails is also part of the agenda of the bi-annual meeting. The Anti-Narcotics Force officials will discuss measures to check and control smuggling and sharing of intelligence.
