There is no illegal muslim Bangladeshi immigration in west Bengal.Period.West Bengal Muslim population growth rate is actually lower than Indian average.Check the data.In India as a whole muslim increased from 10 percent to 14 percent of total population within the period of 1951 to 2011. A 40 percentage increase.While for West Bengal, it increases from 20 percent in 1951 to 27 percent of state's population in 2011. A 35 percentage increase.So where is the so called 'illegal muslim' migration?

West Bengal from the start contain larger percentage of muslim than Indian average. Muslim population growth is higher because you have kept them lower on socio-economic development. Still muslim population growth in India is rapidly converging with the national average.Say about 20-30 years from now, muslim and non muslim population within India will have same growth rate and balance will establish in percentage.

Bangladesh always tries to underplay this illegal immigration issue with population nexus. Such arguments are valid only when we assume that every illegal Bangladeshi is getting a voter card and becoming a parmanent citizen which is seldom the case. Most illegal immigrants work here as low wage earners and live in slums where they manage to get electricity and water supply by bribing the local party authorities.
