Indian F-16IN vs. Pakistani F-16 Block 52

What are the Major Differences?

The F-16IN Super Viper has the most advanced technologies and capabilities available today on the international market. It is truly the ultimate fourth generation fighter with all it brings to the battlefield.

Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar

The Northrop Grumman APG-80 AESA radar is the only AESA operational in the international market today. This revolutionary all-weather, precision targeting sensor has been exported by the United States government and is defending a sovereign nation today; no other MMRCA competitor can make that claim. The APG-80 AESA radar provides outstanding situational awareness and detection; ultrahigh-resolution synthetic aperture radar mapping, fully interleaved modes of operations with automatic terrain following; and air-to-air tracking of multiple targets.

Net-Centric Warfare Capability

The fusion of net-centric operations and onboard data provides a total battle space picture and optimizes mission accomplishment. The F-16 was the first multi-role fighter to incorporate a data link capability, and the IAF's Operational Data Link (ODL) can be integrated onto the F-16IN when available, ensuring interoperability with other IAF aircraft. Data integrates through all phases of the mission – from mission planning, navigation, communication and target prosecution to return to base – transforming the pilot from an aircraft system manager to a tactician.

Modern, Full-Color, All-Digital Glass Cockpit

Pilots receive easy-to-interpret information via the all-digital cockpit and helmet -mounted cueing system. The large color displays are capable of fusing data from on- and off-board sensors, reducing the workload and enabling the pilot to focus on the mission.

Advanced Survivability Features

The low radar signature of the F-16IN reduces detection by enemy radars. Its single-engine design has smaller infrared and visual signature than twin-engine fighters. The internal electronic warfare and towed decoy systems, provided by Raytheon, avoid or defeat the most advanced threats. Raytheon's combat-proven EW systems are deployed on F-16 aircraft worldwide. Superior agility and excellent pilot situational awareness reduce vulnerability to attack, while critical systems redundancy and shielding enhance survivability.

Enhanced High Thrust Engine

The F-16IN offers the highest thrust engine in the competition, the General Electric F110-132A. It has 32,000 pounds of thrust with an unprecedented record of safety, reliability, maintainability and durability. The F110 incorporates the latest technology, including full authority digital engine control, for maximum fuel efficiency and performance.

Block 50/52 Plus, which is also known as the "Advanced Block 50/52", was first delivered in April 2003 to the Hellenic Air Force. Its main differences are the addition of support for conformal fuel tanks (CFTs), dorsal spine compartment, APG-68(V9) radar, and JHMCS helmet.

The CFTs are mounted above the wing, on both sides of the fuselage. They provide an additional 450 US gallon (2,045 L) of fuel for increased range or time on station and free up underwing hardpoints for weapons.

They can be easily removed if needed. The optional dorsal spine compartment is located behind the cockpit and extends to the tail. It adds adds 30 cubic feet (850 L) for more internal avionics and chaff/flare dispensers. This option is extremely common in the two-seat versions, but can not be mounted on single seat versions.

in not yet even make and there is 5% chances now india will go to IN. so forget it.

Sri Lankan you always make some useless and bogus threads everyone knows that f-16IN has AESA radar which is not present in anyother block except the UAEAF f-16's e/f block60

we dun want another vs fight here

Nice share, Sri Lankan. Can you post some pics about them?:cheesy::mod:

yes some people on PDF act to hard .... annoying teenagers

The biggest difference is that one is in production, and the other on paper. What is being flown to India is essentially the same thing as what has been developed for the UAEAF. It will give IAF an idea as to the rough capabilities of the platform which will eventually become F-16IN if IAF decided to go with it (without any ifs and buts, its the best of the bunch running first or second to the Super Hornet).

Why? The engine, AESA radar, the weapons, targeting pod, data bus... should be the same that UAEs block 60s have, the new CFTs with refueling probe are developed and were shown during the trials in India last year, so what is left? The EW system could be new, but that's it mainly and that's exaclty the point! The F16IN is a customised version of the B60, with only slight differences and LM of course will not waste money for big further developments, cause the time of F16 is already up. That's why they combined the F16IN at the beginning with the option for F35 later, but now they understand that this doesn't work and offered F35 without F16 too.
It's very unlikely that IAF will go to F16IN, simply because it won't offer much advantages over PAFs F16s, or over future J10Bs. No doubt that it will be out soon after the trials.

F-16E/F essentially gives what the SH offers. If the preference is for twin engined aircraft then SH makes sense, however avionics, weapons and capabilities wise, both aircraft more than match each other.
