Indian defence minister hints at MMRCA cancellation

:omghaha::omghaha: :rofl::rofl:

Here are a few rules when in India...

Rule #1 - The true price of any item is what you pay -- There are no suggested retail prices in India. Nothing is labeled, so it pays to talk with several vendors before making a significant purchase.

Rule # 2 - Try for 70% off -- Don't accept less than 30%

Rule # 3 - Make them show lots of merchandise -- If it is a rug merchant, you want the demo guys sweating profusely before you make your first offer. Get the vendor to "invest" in the transaction -- emotion, time and energy.

Rule # 4 - Offer on one item at a time - If you plan to buy a couple things DON'T let on at the outset. Act like you intend to buy only one item, if that much. Get the seller to give you prices on each item; play one item off another to show you are looking for the lower price point.

Rule # 5 - Wait for the pad of paper -- Every Indian sales person has a pad of paper and a pencil that they pull out when the bargaining gets a bit more serious. Though they write down the price for an item, this is only the starting point - remember rule #2.

Rule # 6 - Say "TOO HIGH", a lot - Don't even start negotiating until the salesman has scratched through the initial price and lowered it at least twice. I found that simply staring in silence at the pad of paper for a long time would result in the vendor cutting the price.

Rule # 7 - Imply a bundled purchase -- OK, now that the price has been cut 25-30%, ask the salesman what deal he would give you if you buy two items. Expect 5% off. Ask for three items; get another 5%. Then add a very expensive 4th item -- one which you do not intend to buy. This will excite the vendor and he will do a bunch of calculations which you will be unable to follow. The price will come down for the expensive item as well as for the other items you intend to buy. Lock those prices and drop the expensive item.

At this point, you should have been able to shave close to 50% off the initial price.
This is the birthright of the people living in the Indian subcontinent.

It should be before LCA is operational.

Maybe the Modi gov see detect too much corruption in the RAFALE deal. So they are looking for a way to back off. They money are going into congress parties personal pockets.

Perhaps, but you don't back track in a major deal like this after so many signatures have been placed in so much fanfare. Those corruption concerns could be addressed in so many other ways. Corruption and kickbacks are part and parcel of subcontinent culture. Even the F-35 deal won't be 100% transparent. This deal didn't just end because there are co-production or corruption issues. It fell because the Americans have come up with a sweet deal for India.

I wonder what the explanation will be from the Indian side. It intrigues me very much.

Nice one! So, after shaking hands, taking photo ops and what not the Indians have decided to back off and call it a day as far as the Rafale goes... Some Indians were already dreaming about forming Rafale squadrons and their placement etc. Talk about being a reliable customer.
Better do Photo Op than getting Robbed by seller. The Breach of the Contract was from the seller Side. We are still their Reliable customer remember we are Paying them 40 million per fighter just for MLU(MID LIFETIME UPGRADE) for M2K .and Plus Scorpion Subs.

LMAO loving it KFC style. Poor me thinking everything was dandy... I remember the day when this deal was being lauded by so many as the end of the world. Well...

.
I dont get it, why are the French doing this to you guys, why are they delaying it? why have they hiked the price? why do they themselves want to sabotage the deal?
they themselves are losing the chance of getting their hands on quite a lot of Cash.

Russians must be really happy

Good question. Only the French know the answer to that.

Meanwhile, keep dragging the deal for another 20 years.
As for Being Customer India has Image of Biggest Importer of Arms than Any other Country on the Globe. We have More Expensive and Handy projects in Our Hands.Unlike Some Countries Who Only Depend on Being a Liability to their Sellers:D:D

Not just good but great humor dude ...

Back to topic, I doubt the French tries to sabotage this deal, how hard it would be to sell another 126 4G jets at that price?
Whether US did anything behind the scene or not, it would be better for India to back out from it and go 5G directly like F35, and it would be lucky for Dassault to salvage whatever compensations they can get. Probably the new GoI is very determined to go 5G directly, and now try to negotiate its way out of the Rafale deal even it has gone quite deep. What's you view?
