LOL, most MLRS are more or less interchangeable.Turkiye has guided MLRS ...The best in the World with China
-- 40 km TRG-122 with GPS - INS
-- 40 km TRLG-122 with Laser seeker
-- 70 km TRG-230 with GPS - INS
-- 70 km TRLG-230 with with Laser seeker
-- 120 km TRG-300 with GPS - INS
Also 150+ km IHA-230 with GPS - INS or Laser seeker .... ( air launched variant )
"Best" is only relative to how you're defining it.
30km...So, within even a short ranged SAM's detection and tracking range? Certainly within the range of a base level Akash Prime. So when the SAM CCU detects & engages the drone, either the drone has to run away and miss the artillery units or gets shot and possibly still miss the artillery unit. And We dont need to risk soldiers
Turkish UCAVs have 30 km Laser designator
To even assume that rocket artillery generally will be used against anything other than fixed target is hopium.
Armenia's problem was always in "shorter" ranges.Only 1 laser guided Rocket will be enough to destroy ATAGS Howitzer
or 1 guided munition with IIR seeker
or 1 Kamikaze Drone with IR Camera
As we have seen in the Russia-Ukraine war - just to be sure, the counter-battery on either side generally has had to use missiles and bombs more than once. Even in standoff ranges the perpetrator force has to attempt and overwhelm a target, The larger the distance the more time an artillery or a SAM u it has to "scoot".
Exactly why the range of artillery shells are increasing as well, Kalyani, the manufacture of ATAGS, is developing 120km hypersonic LRGMs for the ATAGS. Of course, Armenia should acquire a whole suite of our air defence, artillery and tactical ballistic missile suite but in the mean time cheap, long ranged precision rounds is more affordable and realistic.
Also, there are weapon systems with far better FPAs than on a measly MLRS that miss their target, But I guess we are dealing with "da bery besht in da world" that can interdict in the very first attempt, so maybe its possible.
LOL, this range debate seems like the PDF of 2015s.btw AKASH-NG has range of 80 km
Turkish UCAVs armed with 80-150-180-200-250 km Missile / guided munition / turbojet powered Kamikaze Drone
to destroy Indian AKASH-NG from safe distance
A SAM is more than just its range.
As I said, long ranged drones which will have to fly high and risk getting detected, will be shot down by the S-300s, or at least will be harassed by it. Armenia's issue was always in short ranges.
That's where most of the bread and butter of the drone and counter drone action took place as we saw in the previous war and in Ukraine. It was the the limited number of short ranged TORs that were an issue for the Azeri drones.
Akash NG is designed to be a mobile system, again, for shoot and scoot, has integrated 6 missile launcher system, IFF, AESA multifunction radar, data & comm link and CCU, all in a single vehicle. Air assets have to come in close if they want to engage it effectively and risk getting shot by it or a supporting SAM unit. Exactly what the Armenians need, multiple mobile SAM units, covering each other and that which allow the supplementary ground forces to move alongside it.
