Exercise Chakravyuh-II

In a follow up to ‘Exercise Shatrujeet’ by the Strike Corps (Strike One) in Apr 2016, the pivot formations are holding major military training exercise codenamed “Exercise CHAKRAVYUH-II” in the general area of Pallu – Sardarsahar (Suratgarh) in Rajasthan. The exercise conceptualized by the Pivot Corps involves rapid mobilization and execution of plans in sync with Air Force. The exercise aims to validate the battle readiness and operational effectiveness of the pivot formation and RAPID division along with all its affiliated components.

The exercise, envisages mechanised maneuvers in the entire spectra of new generation weapons, platforms & systems employed in areas where rapid development and urbanisation along the border is predominant. It will also provide an opportunity to all commanders in planning and conduct of large scale operations in an integrated theatre environment along with Air Force including the fighter ground attack aircrafts, attack helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, remotely piloted vehicles, and communication helicopters. Consequently, troop insertion by air using third dimension has also been integrated into the exercise using the Special Forces and other Heliborne troops.

During the exercise, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and communication systems will be put to test in a network-centric battlefield environment duly supported by enabling operational logistics. Improved mobility, inventory management techniques and the extensive use of information technology, so as to ensure that logistics keep pace with the fast paced operational environment, is also being validated during the exercise.

@Jamwal's

So in effect this means that Indian Army has been exercising
all types of Formations -- Strike Corps ; Pivot Corps and RAPID divisions
continously for More than a Month

Perhaps after Operation Parakram ; this is the First time Such
Large scale exercises are happening -- One after the Another

This is the follow up of "Shatrujeet" where troops exercised in simulated NBC environment.

Both these exercised include "strike" corps.

BTW I heard something is being planned for Ranikhet. Is it going to be another special forces exercise?
Just curious!

Man oh man.... how many exercises are held by Indian armed forces a year.... very good... keeps the army battle readied. ...

Is it just validation of abilities or practice for war?? Because i have never seen so many exercise being held together, army performing coordinated attacks with the air force means something, air superiority must be the first thing india would do in a war, then the armoured thrust, and maybe even navy can wreck havoc or stay alert at bay if not attacked by PN....

Comparing it with OP Parakram will be a bit too much.

Indian Army does conduct 2-3 such exercises each year ,but yes I think this is a surprise that both such exercises are taking place one after another.

Its 41°C here and I am literally laid dead in my bed , and our men are busy this time of the year in Rajasthan, well wishes for them.

Actually no first thing would be a massive Brahmos attack on key airfields, energy stations, bases etc next would be scramble air assets

India studied various US Iraqi operations especially the last one where key targets were hit first in a massive onslaught by missiles and stealth bombers, only after you will see fighter jets.

Interesting thing is our AWACS can stay well within our borders and still keep a large eye on Pakistani jets taking off and monitor them in the sky due to the range.

But we dont have decent bombers.

Yes we do not and not stealth ones so initially it would be a huge Brahmos attack to take out runways, energy infrastructure etc speed is key with the Brahmos. Next would be a quick rapid thrust supported by air assets as well as the IN being mobilised to get into position for a naval blockade.

All this would be done in a net centric way supported by satellites as well as using our desi GPS system we now have in place.

Another thing is cyber attacks and perhaps use of EMP bombs, warfare is evolving to this now.

Without the S-400 and other assets we are in dire need of, we are not prepared at this moment but next 5-7 years thing are looking spicy for sure.

Dangerous submarines Pakistan has with AIP those will have to be monitored by the P8 and we are in dire need for the next gen submarines either from Germany or a follow on order from the French.

Indian Army also need their own Apaches (minimum 48 in my view) to support the Rapid thrust and take out tanks
