What do you expect the Air Chief to answer when someone asks a question about its ability. He just gave an generic answer to reporters question. Now making out that Air Chief is hinting surgical strikes or indias cold start doctrine etc nothing but building purple dreams.

Stop making masala news out of general statements.

I agree with your comment. Even if a commander knows that they are utterly outgunned, they should never even hint at their weakness and always speak with confidence.

The question is not why he said it, but how this affects the mindset of a large portion of the Indian public. As they become convinced with their martial prowess, they demand military confrontations and the politicians ultimately start believing their own propaganda.

We go down a slippery slope if we continue on this path.
