India working on Hydrogen reactor

A good move, Although Hydrogen is still almost an Utopian Dream...

Both electrics and Hydrogen have their inherent problems, however much more research is needed with hydrogen to make it a viable next fuel option.

Problems with hydrogen include: Difficult to produce ( as mentioned above nuclear energy needed, to economically produce it, still research is not complete...)

Difficult to transport: Either needs cryogenic conditions, otherwise very high pressure cylinders needed, It doesn't liquefy easily hence volumetric energy density (unless stored cryogeniclly) remains very less compared to gasoline for ex., hence difficult to transport, distribute and also keep in vehicle.

Very dangerous, and explosive.

Although fuel cells are quite energy efficient still very costly, usage cycles are low.

Do you wonder why we would not just burn hydrogen in cylinders , its because the injectors design is very difficult to master, due to very high explosive nature of hydrogen.

I believe the major hinderence in electric vehicles is battery technology, and i think thats where next breakthrough will happen, and that is when this hydrogen hooplah will end...

hey PanzerFaust isn't u avatar the American Cold War expiremental nuclear tipped shoulder fire rocket launcher ( Bazuka ) the way they show in starship troopers movie.............

Hydrogen bomb is nothing but the Thermo-nuclear fusion device India tested in Pokhran on May 1998.

do any one know more about it

Nope, its just a simple panzerfaust. Bazooka was a 'rocket launcher', however panzerfaust just a launch tube filled with explosive and tipped with a antitank explosive. The first versions didnt even had aiming keyholes ;)

Stupid move, better to work on electric vehicles than fuel cell based cars.

we cant say because in our country there is very much deficient of power and no of coal plants are increasing so electric vehicles will increase the consumption of power

I rather rely on compressed air technology for power generation in cars. Ed of the day we need something that explodes and has enough power to push the piston down in the cylinder.

India tested hydrogen (thermonuclear) bomb in 1998, though there are some debates about the yields. After than India had came a long way.... we have done a lot of R&D in thermonuclear technologies. India is one of the seven countries participated in ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) programme. The other six are EU, USA, Russia, Japan, China and South Korea.

The good thing about this Hydrogen reactor is that it is thorium fuelled.

.
Plant that produces electricity from thermal energy generated by the fission of fuel atoms in a reactor.

carbon dioxide reactor
Developed for the most part in Great Britain and France, it was replaced by the pressurized water reactor, which performs better and is less expensive

heavy-water reactor
The advantage of this type of reactor is that it does not require fuel enrichment; it is used mainly in Canada, Argentina and India.

boiling-water reactor
In this second most common reactor, boiling occurs directly in the reactor core; it is used mainly in the United States, Sweden and Japan.

wow.... why bashing?? Some one is trying something... if it ends successful or failure it is always good...

Secondly is any other country working on this??
