What's new

India will import raw gemstones from Pakistan

Pakistan doesn't provide any incentives for a JV or setting up a new plant ..

The situation in Pakistan is pretty similar ..
Like labour costs almost same in both the countries
Only plus point that I could see for Pakistan is that she could act as a gateway to Central Asia and Middle east

.
yeah.. we can use their inputs.. add value and export to the world.. so win for them and win for us.

Yap working great with us in Bangladesh. We import cheap raw from India add value and re export back in India and elsewhere.. Win win for everybody..

Exactly , a win win situation .
btw... whats all the fuss about your country complaining having huge trade defecit with India? Seems like your finished products costs less than the raw materials they use.

Not all the raw materials finds its way back to India. Some directly consumed by us (eg. onion, mustard oil etc.) some turned high end finished product and goes to western europe and america and some turned to low end finished product and exported to India.

I have heard Pakistan has a lot of untapped mineral resources especially in FATA. It would be great if they could be mined and sold.

check out pakistan geological survey report of 1990s you will came to know we have huge collection of minerals hidden in the mountains of pakistan which covers 58% of pakistan's land

peridot, emerald, aquamarine, tourmaline, topaz, ruby, sapphire, garnet, red spinel, pargasite, actinolite, diopside, epidote, vesuvianite, axinite, rodingite, sphene, fluorite, apatite, zircon, rutile, azurite, moonstone, amethyst, rose quartz and agate.

these are the names of gem stones which are world wide famous from pakistan many of gem stones are very rare in world.

. . .
Why raw, why not finished.

Mate India has the gem cutting Industry that needs the raw material, why would we buy the finished material. Pakistan can also invest in the sector and expand their own gem crafting industry to reach new markets.

. .
Pakistan should not sell any RAW MATERIALS to India.

Infact, it time for Pakistan to wake up and stop selling any of their Raw Materials and convert them into Finished Products before Exporting to Foreign Countries. A finished Gemstone sells at 10 times the price of Raw material. If we finish it within our country we provide jobs to Pakistanis rather than Indians and make all the Profit.

Pakistan needs to climb the higher level of FOOD CHAIN and stop giving away our profits and jobs to India ( Enemy ).

There is except only one problem the industry is based on trust and level of craftsmanship, the world is already used to the quality of finished gem stones that India produces, and the finished product is sold all over the world through larger and reputed companies who have a large stake in the business. So rather than starting out new why not go into a joint venture.

Because even as enemy its not gonna hurt India a bit. We can get the same product from other countries. Even China which whom India is not so good with, get along perfectly in the matter of business.
