India today expressed interest in financing the construction and operations of new airports in Bangladesh.

The newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Pranay Verma said this during a courtesy call with the Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab) office in Dhaka's Kurmitola.

According to a press release of Caab, the high commissioner expressed interest in training the personnel engaged in the aviation sector of Bangladesh, increasing the capacity of existing airports, building and operating new airports with Indian financing (via line of credit).

In the bilateral meeting, the issue of increasing mutual cooperation in the aviation sector and developing skilled manpower were also discussed.

The CAAB chairman thanked the Indian high commissioner for training 12 civil aviation officers on "Basic Air Traffic Controllers" in India currently, funded by the Indian government.

The talks focused on modernizing the existing flight traffic agreement between the two countries.

The issue of encouraging the airlines of the two countries to launch more flights to new destinations was discussed to speed up communication between the two countries.

In particular, there was a discussion about increasing the connectivity of Bangladesh with the major cities in the eastern part of India.

The meeting also discussed the proposal to sign a memorandum of understanding to increase cooperation between the Civil Aviation Training Academy of the two countries.

Yup - they have this very well thought out.

Now I suggest something. Why don't we team up with capable parties like S'pore and Malaysia and go to Indian Civil Aviation to propose building and operating an airport in India. See what they say.....

No prizes for guessing the outcome.

If Bangladesh can hire Korean architects and airport designers (or even Chinese ones) why would we let India design these in Bangladesh?

Now watch these bhakt idiots appear with CGI's and images of AAI designed/built Indian airports (only the good ones though). I will report them for hijacking the thread.

Airports are big deals with Modi govt. Since they are an "image" and "showcase project" issue. Indian people get impressed.

Here is old Patna airport, Kolkata looked even worse back in the day.

Here is CGI of Rs. 1200 crore New Patna airport. In actuality - who knows how it will look? In Bangladesh - Indians will charge five times this amount. Hasina's bakhra will be minimum Tk. 3000 crore.

India can 'want' as much as it likes - it's free to ask in this world.

Let's look at how many actual contracts they are given.

It's actually the private sector where Indians are making their money - commonly employed in professional or higher manager roles.

.
Of course this also means Indians get access to our Air Force installation details, strategic order of battle and deployment plans - which is a far bigger risk than saving a few dollars by giving projects to Indians. Most regional airports in Bangladesh are dual use ones also used by the air force. I don't see the air force ever agreeing to letting Indians design our airports. They can ask - but they shall never get.

India is showing too much love for Bangladesh.

So, the airports, needed or not, will be constructed with Indian money and this will be accompanied by the participation of Indian Design companies and construction companies.

Can someone say if this love is free of cost? Will not BD have to pay back the money with a very high-interest rate?

If India builds any, it will plant some electronic devices and ask the traitor Chetona group to monitor the airports.
