ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif has said that India wants to engage Pakistan in a “low-intensity war”, expressing confidence that Pakistan is capable of replying to any aggression.

“It seems that India does not understand the language of love and peace,” the defence minister told reporters outside the Parliament House after conclusion of the National Assembly session on Saturday.

Mr Asif said the premier had expressed the desire for having peace with India and all other neighbouring countries with sincerity, but India had not reciprocated Islamabad’s goodwill gesture.

“India wants to keep us busy in a low-intensity war or low-intensity engagement on our eastern border. They are pursuing the same tactics of keeping our forces busy on all fronts and the anti-Pakistan mentality of the Indian leadership is now fully exposed,” he added.

Commenting on relentless shelling by India troops along the Working Boundary for the past few days, the defence minister said it seemed that India did not want to see Pakistan’s success in its fight against terrorism. In fact, he added, the Indian aggression at this time proved that it was supporting terrorists.

Mr Asif said India had started cross-border shelling to engage Pakistan’s armed forces on the eastern front at a time when it was busy in the fight against terrorists inside the country and on the western border. “It seems that India does not want to see a durable peace in Pakistan, Afghanistan and in the region,” he said.

The defence minister said Islamabad had raised the issue of the killing of two personnel of Chenab Rangers and civilians with India at all appropriate forums.

Pakistan shouldn't fall prey to such tactics, but infact should do something along following lines.

1. Move villagers to safe places, farther off from border
2. Reinforce Rangers, and watch for movement across LoC
3. Not respond heavily, until and unless movement is felt from the other side, matter will subside hopefully.

#3 is not sign of weakness, it is conserving energy when hands are already full, Pakistan needs to stay focused on war on terror.

They are just trying to shift the focus of Pakistan Army from ongoing op in Waziristan where hired mercenaries are bring slaughtered like pigs by PA.

Pakistan need to speed up the trench digging on Afg-Iran-Pak border and make it secure so no one can goes in and no one can comes out without clearance

Hope for the best but expect the worst. At any rate, I hope our armed force are fully awakened.

I believe chunky pandey has invented chankiya mentality.

Chankya Mentality

Seven ways to deal with neighboring countries
Main article: Sāma, Dāna, Bheda, Danda
Kautilya recommended seven strategies in dealing with neighboring powers to Chandragupta Maurya.[13]

The strategies are:
  1. Sāman – Appeasement, non-aggression pact
  2. Dāna – Gift, bribery
  3. Bheda – Divide, split, separating opposition
  4. Daṇḍa – Strength, punishment
  5. Māyā – Illusion, deceit
  6. Upekṣā – Ignoring the enemy
  7. Indrajāla – Faking military strength[13]

We don't need to involve a Pakistan in any sort of war though it is inevitable knowing someone suicidal tendencies.....

chalo fir ho hi jae ek baby war, su 30mki vs f-16 blk 52.. bring it ! :pop:

The costs are rising for Pakistan and fast. Like Ajit Devil said, they will make things unaffordable for pakistan, if it doesn't desist from stirring things up here.
On another note it reminds me of certain policy of 'bleeding through a thousand cuts', guess who is bleeding now.

Well Modi is a good politician, he's using confrontation with Pakistan to distract from local issues and build popular nationalist support. This is why an overdose of nationalism and religion should not mix. You get figures like Modi and their little internet warriors beating the war drums from the basement's of their mum's houses. But I guess a thousand of years of being ruled by someone else does create a inferior complex and a desire for revenge. Good luck India, any war with Pakistan will cost you just the same, Pakistan has nothing to lose.

Has this fellow or his ilk brought up their 'nuclear' power as they did last time things heated up a bit before going crying to UN?

Not that anyone can trust a word that comes out of the mouth of a leader of this country, but there is no reason for India not to do this if it were so inclined.

A stable and 'peaceful' Pak is their problem not India's. If your armed forced can't handle multiple fronts, that too is your problem. You can always call upon your all-weather friend for help, though based on past events, don't see that panning out.

Anyway a 'low intensity war' keeps Pak busy both on their east and west front. In frustration, the only reaction would be try to launch more attacks by their 'strategic assets', which will lead to even greater conflict, so be it.
