India to spend $ 24 billion; on Science and Technol

Provide proof for your claims.

India has mastered many fields of sophisticated technologies:

Space travel, IT, pharma, car industry, shipbuilding etc etc...

I just want to understand one thing. Are you saying that India is the best in the world? Are. You. Crazy?

"And India is among the 10 largest economies, not among the poorest."

So I guess you think you're richer than countries like Norway, Canada, Korea, Sweden, Singapore, etc.?

GDP is not a good indicator of wealth (or lack thereof). GDP per capita (PPP) is.

It's actually quite pathetic that India doesn't even have a higher GDP than Italy, when Italy has 60 million people, and the .2 on India's 1.2 billion people is over 3x as large.

India's GDP per capita (PPP) is $3,830. This puts it at 133 out of 187 countries. India scores at the level of sub-Saharan African, not even 1/13th the income level of the USA.

Huawei, one company, spent 23.7billion Yuan(3.7billion$) in 2011, and 30billion Yuan(4.8billion$) in 2012 for research and development (R&D), and spent about 15billion$ during the past 10 years

Where exactly did I use the words "best" and "world" ??? You have comprehension problems?

What do you mean with richer???

If you talk about how much money the government or how large the economy is, India is richer than all those countries you mentioned.

If you mean the average income of each person in a country, India is the last one with its low middle income per capita.

1.) Thats not surprising, population sizes play a minor role in the economic output of a country... there are soo many more important factors to consider.

Its not pathetic, maybe in your eyes, but not in the eyes of someone who knows about what he is talking about.

Italy is a developed country, while India is a developing country.

Its already an emerging market and will surpass Italy very soon.

2.) I dont know what you are meaning with the last part of your message... but if you are saying that Italy`s GDP is 3 times higher than India`s, you need to learn how to read figures.

I responded to someone who implied that India is among the best in the world. You responded to me telling me to prove it... lol

What does that imply? Learn to comprehend English better, or don't respond at all.

"If you talk about how much money the government or how large the economy is, India is richer than all those countries you mentioned."

I think you know very well what I mean (or what anyone means) when they are talking about how *rich* someone or something is. We are talking about wealth, income, standard of living, poverty, etc.

GDP is in no way a measure of the living standards of the citizenry.

LOL, population sizes play one of the largest roles in the economic output of a country. It's why you will never see Monaco surpassing Germany, or Germany ever falling under Monaco, no matter how rich (or poor) either of them get.

The only other difference is the per capita GDP of the population.

The fact that you didn't know something so simple is a testament to your intelligence.

So you read the figures, and tell me why India is a country with a (relatively) free-market economy, far more open than China, a multi-party democracy, and yet still has 40% of the income of China (and that gap is expanding too).

Surely if India has all this better governance, it should be ahead of China, not falling behind?

"if you are saying that Italy`s GDP is 3 times higher than India`s, you need to learn how to read figures."

And you need to stop pretending to be naive. Why would I say that when I'm making an argument about how India doesn't have a higher GDP than Italy?

1.) Its about how well the population is skilled, productive etc etc and not just about the size.

Look at India, 8 out of 9 countries which have a larger GDP than India have significantly smaller populations.

2.) "So you read the figures, and tell me why India is a country with a (relatively) free-market economy, far more open than China, a multi-party democracy, and yet still has 40% of the income of China (and that gap is expanding too)."

- shows us how much you know about the Indian market. India is far too socialist. Its multi party system makes everything much more difficult, its everything but better governance (if you talk about effectiveness), while China has a one party system which enables it to quickly react to changes.

3.) Yes, Italy has a higher GDP... but not 3 times bigger than India`s.

.
Apparently, because Chinese are only spending $3 billion on Science & Technology. But I don't think the Indians understood what the Chinese were referring the $3 billion to.

China R&D spending passed $160B in 2012 | ZDNet

China's annual R&D spend at new high

i always get a good laugh when Pakistani compare India with China as if they belongs to China not Pakistan.....wake up kids china is your ally not your country....:)...it will kick your a$$ as soon as its purpose is solved so stop taking pride in China's advancement everyone knows China is spending more money than India in every single field so what it have bigger challenges too

1.) Yes, this is indicated by the per capita GDP as I already stated, which is a good measure of living standards.

As for the 9 countries with higher GDP, this is due to per capita income and GDP. Their GDP can be reduced to multiplying population by per capita GDP.

"India is far too socialist"

Yet compared to China it is not.

"3.) Yes, Italy has a higher GDP... but not 3 times bigger than India`s."

And no one said it does.

Predictable mentality.. could not resist including China in the title.
Why this need to compare?

Because we always look up to the people who are better than us and try to become like them and may be even better than them.
Competition drives the world more over China is a great country to look up to they are very hard working and smart businessmen.

Look at the miracles they have already done.
